Timoth&eacute;e Chalamet stars as a sports legend in the forthcoming, highly anticipated Marty Supreme, which just dropped its first trailer.

<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/timothee-chalamet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Timoth&eacute;e Chalamet</a> is generating major buzz once again&mdash;this time for his role in Josh Safdie&rsquo;s upcoming film Marty Supreme, which just debuted its first trailer ahead of its Christmas 2025 release.
Best known for Dune and Call Me By Your Name, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/kylie-jenner-timothee-chalamet-red-carpet-debut-sheer-schiaparelli-gown" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chalame</a>t takes the lead in the sports period drama, loosely inspired by the life and rise of professional table tennis legend Marty Reisman, though Safdie&rsquo;s version is not a straight biopic. Chalamet is also co-producing the project with cult-favorite indie powerhouse A24.
Reisman, born in the 1930s on Manhattan&rsquo;s Lower East Side, discovered the sport&rsquo;s artistry as a young man. Hustling games for bets and prizes, he steadily climbed the ranks to become the U.S. men&rsquo;s singles champion, earning the nickname &ldquo;The Wizard of Table Tennis.&rdquo; His six-decade career was immortalized in his 1974 memoir The Money Player: The Confessions of America&rsquo;s Greatest Table Tennis Player and Hustler, and now, with Safdie&rsquo;s kinetic filmmaking and Chalamet&rsquo;s star power, Marty Supreme is poised to serve up one of the most anticipated releases of the holiday season.

Now that more details have emerged, Josh Safdie&rsquo;s Marty Supreme will follow a fictionalized version of Reisman&rsquo;s rise in the world of competitive table tennis, blending real-life inspiration with Safdie&rsquo;s signature gritty storytelling. The film boasts an all-star ensemble cast, including <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/young-photos-of-gwyneth-paltrow-astronomer-spokesperson-chris-martin-coldplay" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gwyneth Paltrow</a>, Fran Drescher, Tyler, the Creator, and Odessa A&rsquo;zion. It also marks Safdie&rsquo;s highly anticipated directorial return after his critically acclaimed 2019 hit Uncut Gems.
The first on-set images surfaced in September 2024, revealing a dramatically transformed Timoth&eacute;e Chalamet&mdash;sporting a moustache, shorter hair, and steel-rimmed glasses. Leaked photos captured an intimate moment between <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/timothee-chalamet-givenchy-suit-suit-sarah-burton-oscars-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chalamet</a> and Paltrow, as their characters share a passionate kiss in a Central Park tunnel, hinting at a romantic subplot alongside the film&rsquo;s high-stakes sports drama. However, it seems Marty may have more than one love interest, as in the trailer, he appears to also be with Odessa A&rsquo;zion's character.&nbsp;

The Marty Supreme release date is officially set for Christmas 2025, making it one of the most anticipated films for fans of Timoth&eacute;e Chalamet and Josh Safdie. The sports drama will hit theaters just in time for the holiday season, giving &ldquo;Chalamaniacs&rdquo; another reason to celebrate.&nbsp;
