Where is 'Sex and the City' Star Kim Cattrall Now?

Since the announcement that Samantha Jones would not be in the cast of And Just Like That, the highly-anticipated revival of Sex and the City, rumors began as to why Kim Cattrall would refuse to join the project. Her character has always been considered one of the audience's favorites, bringing a strong, empowered woman who perfectly combined fun touches with her sensuality. So why didn't she join Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon?

The feud between Cattrall and Parker is legendary, but was that the reason Cattrall refused to be part of the revival? Only recently, Michael Patrick King, the production's showrunner, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the series was never meant to include the character.

"It never was on the radar as four because Kim Cattrall, for whatever reason, didn’t want to play Samantha anymore while we were doing the [third] movie. I never thought, 'Oh, there’s a hole I have to fill.' Samantha doesn’t not exist in their lives," revealed King.

"The show was born of these three characters: What’s their life, and who can I bring in to inform it? Listen, I wouldn’t do this again if I wasn’t excited about the idea. And even though people think this is a franchise that they’re familiar with, there’s something new in this version. This isn’t what was; it’s what’s next."

But considering that Samantha Jones is far from Cattrall's radar, what is the actress doing now? The good news for fans is that she's onto new projects. In an article published on Deadline, Cattrall was announced as the narrator of How I Met Your Father, a reboot of the comedy sitcom How I Met Your Mother, which will star Hilary Duff. In addition, it was also recently reported that Cattrall will join the cast of the Queer as Folk reboot as a recurring guest star.

Since the conclusion of her role as the promiscuous publicist, Cattrall has also starred in the anthology series Tell Me A Story, as well as the drama series Filthy Rich.
