Cooper Hoffman is the star of the new movie adaptation of Stephen King&rsquo;s earliest novel, The Long Walk. Here&rsquo;s everything to know about the up-and-coming actor.&nbsp;

Cooper Hoffman made his acting debut in 2021 with Paul Thomas Anderson&rsquo;s movie Licorice Pizza, where he earned his first <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/best-dressed-celebs-at-the-2021-golden-globe-awards" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Golden Globe nomination</a>. He then starred in movies like Wildcat, Saturday Night, and Old Guy where he solidified his standing as an up-and-coming actor to keep your eyes out for.&nbsp;As of late, Hoffman has been spotted on press tours for two of his latest films, Poetic License and The Long Walk. &nbsp;
The 22-year-old actor grew up in <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/travel-living/best-matcha-nyc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York City</a> with his parents and two younger sisters. His father, the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman, died when he was only 10 years old. As a young actor, Hoffman has generally been known and recognized for his father&rsquo;s stardom, but as he follows in his father&rsquo;s footsteps, he begins to pave his own way in the industry.&nbsp;
Poetic License&mdash;which released earlier in September 2025&mdash;is a comedy that follows two inseparable best friends competing for the affections of their college poetry workshop auditor. In the film, which is <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/maude-apatow-style-fashion-instagram-euphoria" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maude Apatow</a>'s feature directorial debut, Hoffman portrays Ari Zimmer, and his performance has already been praised by critics, fans, and casual moviegoers alike.&nbsp;

The Long Walk is Hoffman&rsquo;s most recent film, and the story is set in a dystopian future America where 50 teenage boys are selected to participate in an annual walking competition where only one boy is left standing. The boys have to maintain a minimum speed or earn their &ldquo;ticket,&rdquo; an execution by the surrounding soldiers.&nbsp;
Ray Garrity, played by Hoffman, was one of the many boys who participated in the walk to enact change in their desolate world. Hoffman&rsquo;s character was the backbone of the film, and quickly, audiences discover how integral the character is to the larger plot. Hoffman&rsquo;s complex characterization is emotionally and intellectully provocative, prompting laughter, tears, and contemplations on the possibilities of a dystopian world.&nbsp;

Outside of working on the silver screen, Hoffman also debuted in an Off-Broadway revival of Curse of The Starving Class which ran February through April 2025. 
Hoffman is quickly moving beyond his <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/phoebe-gates-arthur-donald-dating" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nepo baby</a> label, and exercising his acting chops in projects that indicate he'll be one of the leading actors of the generation.&nbsp;&nbsp;
