The Only Guide to Fall 2019 Music Releases You'll Ever Need
Who doesn’t love a good New Music Friday? Here at L’Officiel USA, we believe in going the extra mile. Instead of just telling you about what's new today, we’ve compiled a collection of songs to listen to for fall 2019, as well as letting you know which cool people have releases approaching in the upcoming months (and when—sometimes. Looking at you, Kanye).
I personally have no formal music experience (i.e. I quit every instrument I ever played and made the mistake of taking sociology of music in college which was infinitely worse than you’d think), but please enjoy this carefully and expertly curated playlist. We will update this list as more information becomes available, so be sure to come back throughout this fall to stay on top of all the new releases you need to know about.
"holy terrain" - FKA Twigs, Future
If I had to imagine what the voice of an angel sounded like, I’m confident it would be exactly like FKA Twigs. The dancer-singer-goddess has had a tumultuous last few years, which included having fibroid tumors removed and a break-up from her longtime boyfriend, Robert Pattinson (so long, vampire boy). But thank god, she’s back and better than ever. Her single, “holy terrain” came out early September, and features Future (who, in the song, talks about sending his girl to church with some drug money, so, like, relatable). On October 7, she also dropped "home with you," and its self-directed video is an avant-garde adventure that obviously had to be released during spooky season.
It’s been five (5) years since FKA Twigs released her first album, LP1. Though she didn’t leave us totally stranded—dropping her EP, M3LL155X, and a few singles—to say we’re desperate for her new album is an understatement. Thankfully, it’s slated for release on November 8, which means this long wait is nearly over.

"Summer Fade (feat. Anna of the North)" - Snakehips, Anna of the North
Snakehips and Anna of the North are onto something here. Summer is fading and fall is technically here although it was 89° in New York on Wednesday, so color me unimpressed. Our Norwegian gem released her music video for “Dream Girl” a couple of weeks ago, not long after dropping her single “Playing Games” back in August.
Snakehips, the English electronic duo, are at it again. They make bops (“All My Friends” with Tinashe and Chance the Rapper, “For the F^__^ of it” with Jeremih and Aminé). Water is wet. You get the idea.
Anna’s new album, Dream Girl, arrived on October 25. It’s her first album without her longtime producer, Brady Daniell-Smith, and I don’t know about you but I am thrilled to hear her find her new sound.

"Take Me to the Light" - Francis and the Lights, Bon Iver, Kanye West
Francis and the Lights, Bon Iver, and Kanye West. What more could you ask for? I sent this song to two of my friends in a group chat but they ignored me and then told me they didn’t like the song. Nevertheless, she persisted. This song sits where it rightfully belongs: on this playlist.
Mr. And The Lights has teased us with the information that a) he’s making a new album and b) it will be called Take Me to the Light, but as of now, it has no set release date. I promise to keep you posted.

? - Kanye West
Speaking of Kanye, where is Yandhi? Jesus is King? I have a lot of questions, sir. Last I heard, Kanye held a Sunday Service in Detroit and previewed Jesus is King along with his IMAX film of the same name. There were reports that the album would drop that same day, but it’s uh...not here. He even continued the promotion with a sold-out event at Manhattan's United Palace, but it still hasn't popped up on any listening platforms, not even Tidal, where he exclusively released The Life of Pablo back in 2016. Kanye, please, I need my mum to stop asking me to play “To The World”.
UPDATE: Jesus is King arrived at noon on October 25, after some additional delays. Church is in session. Listen up, heathens.

"Stacy" - Quinn XCII
Quinn XCII never fails to generate bops. Mr. 92, AKA Mikael Temrowski (XCII is 92, in case you, like me, struggle with roman numerals and were—or are—just pronouncing it “ex-c-i-i”) released his second album, From Michigan With Love, this past February, and graced us with his single, "Stacy," this summer. Yes, I know this is a fall playlist, but this song will carry us through the changing of the seasons. I don’t make the rules. (Read: I do.)
Like some others on this list, Quinn has teased that he has a new album for us, though it’s more likely coming out early 2020. One can hope, though. Cross your fingers, thanks.

"Treehouse" - James Arthur, Sofia Reyes
You might know Arthur as the 2012 X-Factor winner, or from his song, “Say You Won’t Let Go” that spent 52 weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100. Either way, James Arthur and Sofia Reyes mesh together perfectly on this catchy, upbeat (perfect for fall, obviously) single. The real question is: how do we get an invite to their treehouse?
Arthur’s third studio album, You, came out October 18.

"Fado" - Milky Chance
We love a good German folk trio. Milky Chance, who you’ve definitely heard of because who didn’t over-listen to “Stolen Dance” back in 2014, has spent much of the last few years on tour, but have continued (!) to create new music. I, for one, am grateful for this. “Fado” (“fah-do” as you will learn when you listen to it) is groovy. Yeah, I said it. Seriously, that’s the most accurate word I have to describe the song. Hear it for yourself.
Lucky for us, the band’s third album, Mind The Moon, is set to come out on November 15, 2019.

"clementine" - Halsey
Halsey is another one of those artists who constantly produces the catchiest of songs (but you know that). “clementine” is the perfect slow-jam for those crisp fall days. The “Bad at Love” singer recently premiered her single, “Graveyard,” at Rihanna’s much-hyped Savage X Fenty New York Fashion Week show.
Halsey tormented us all by releasing the first single from her new album exactly one year ago today. But fear not, Manic is slated to be released January 17, 2020. I’m confident it’ll be worth the wait.

"Hit the Back" - King Princess
Hot off the presses, “Hit the Back” dropped literally yesterday so obviously it had to be included on this playlist. King Princess AKA Mikaela Straus is ready, willing, and able to take us deeper into Sad Girl Fall. She’s dropped an EP, she’s dropped some singles, but finally, the Brooklyn-raised 20-year-old is going to release her very first LP; Cheap Queen came out October 25, 2019 (woot woot).
