Lily Collins Cast as Polly Pocket in Lena Dunham's New Film
In the wake of the current Barbie phenomenon, there's another doll looking to play on our childhood nostalgia.
With a captivating smile and a fun way, Lily Collins won our hearts as Emily Cooper in the Netflix series Emily in Paris, one of the favorite fashion series of the moment. Now, the actress is gearing up to dominate the movie screens and take us to a moment of nostalgia. The reason for this? She will give life to none other than the Polly Pocket doll, which was part of the childhood of many and is about to win a movie.
According to Variety, in addition to playing the character, Collins will produce the film. Lena Dunham—from the series Girls—will be directing and writing the script. Her production company, Good Thing Going, as well as MGM and Mattel, will also be involved with the film.
“This is a true dream come true and I can't wait to bring these tiny toys to the big screen,” Collins revealed to the publication.
There is already a "great script" in the world, per Variety. Robbie Brenner, the producer who runs Mattel Films, told Variety that working with Collins and Dunham "has been an amazing collaboration.
She continues, "Lena is so collaborative and rolls up her sleeves and really likes to roll around in notes and listen. She’s incredible. Lily is so smart and so specific and so productorial. It’s just been an incredible collaboration, so we are thrilled about it. Hopefully, we’ll be making that at some point in the future."
Not many details about the production have yet been released, including the rest of the cast, filming details, or an estimated release date. With the ongoing writers' and actors' strikes happening, it will likely be a while before new information is shared.
