Fans are overjoyed to hear the singer's long-awaited new music after she dropped her song "Solar Power."

Summer is here, nature is healing, and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/lorde-is-killing-the-grammys-with-kindness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lorde</a> has returned to music. On Thursday, the "Green Light" singer dropped the first single "Solar Power" off her upcoming third studio album of the same name which is officially set to launch on August 20. The song was accompanied by a sunny music video that featured the New Zealand native dancing in her signature unabashed style.&nbsp;
The upbeat tune celebrates the warm weather and carefree spirit of summertime, reveling, "Turn it on in a new kind of bright, it&rsquo;s solar (solar, solar, solar)/Come on and let the bliss begin/Blink three times when you feel it kickin&rsquo; in/That solar power." Lorde co-produced the track with her frequent writing partner <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/st-vincent-daddys-home-album-interview-annie-clark" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jack Antonoff</a> and also beckoned indie darlings <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/phoebe-bridgers-haley-dahl-sloppy-jane-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Phoebe Bridgers</a> and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/wallows-interview-2019" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Clairo</a> to add their talents to the song on backup vocals. The subsequent music video matches the single's summer-loving vibe as the singer dances along the beach in a bright <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/travel-living/gray-and-yellow-color-of-the-year-2021-trend" target="_blank" rel="noopener">yellow</a> matching skirt and crop top set.

Fans have been waiting in the wings for Lorde to release new material since the 2017 release of her sophomore album Melodrama. In 2019, she revealed to fans in her newsletter that she pushed the project in favor of her mental health as she dealt with the loss of her dog Pearl. However, just after she began working on the record again in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed production.
She told fans in May 2020, "I can tell you, this new thing, it&rsquo;s got its own colours now. If you know anything about my work, you&rsquo;ll know what that means&hellip; The work is so fucking good, my friend. I am truly jazzed for you to hear it.&rdquo; 
Last month, Lorde was announced as a headliner for the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/lorde-officially-returning-music-2022-primavera-sound-music-festival-album" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2022 Primavera Sound</a> music festival in Barcelona, Spain, giving fans hope for an album release later this year. No details other details have emerged on the subject, but after a four-year hiatus, it's good to have Lorde back.
