Nick Jonas Set to Host the Billboard Music Awards

The Jonas Brothers singer will helm the ceremony scheduled for late May.

While the major award season wrapped up earlier this week, Nick Jonas has announced that he will be hosting next month's Billboard Music Awards with a prompt "preemptive" accepting of the fictional "Best Host Ever" award. On Instagram, the L'OFFICIEL cover star shared a parody clip of Kamala Harris's meme-ified "We did it, Joe" video "calling" his own brother and bandmate Joe to share the good news.

He wrote in the caption, "Truly an honor to have already received the first preemptive 2021 #BBMAs award. Best host ever?! Wow! Tune-in May 23rd at 8pm ET/5pm PT on @nbc."

While Jonas will lead the show, The Weeknd leads the nominations with a total of 16 including Top Artist. The "Blinding Lights" singer was notably snubbed at this year's Grammy Awards, however, it seems that the BBMAs, which are based on charting statistics, fully validate fans' positive feedback on the singer's record-breaking year.

DaBaby comes in second for the most nominations with 11 nods in nine categories. His collaboration with fellow rapper Jack Harlow on the song "What's Poppin" earned him double nominations for Top Streaming Song and Top Collaboration.

Country singer Gabby Barrett also made a spectacular debut as a first-time nominee, receiving nine award nominations including Top New Artist, thus making her this year's most-nominated female artist.
