After months of speculation, last week, Taylor Swift revealed that she will release the re-recorded version of her 2008 Fearless album—now called Fearless (Taylor's Version)—in April. In more good news, a representative for the Recording Academy has confirmed that the new record, as well as the forthcoming new versions of her other albums, will be allowed consideration for Grammy nominations. "Current eligibility guidelines would allow for the new performances and albums to be eligible if they were recorded within the last five years," the spokesperson said to Billboard. However, they also explained, "None of the older songs would be eligible for songwriting awards."

Last week, Swift released "Love Story (Taylor's Version)," giving fans a chance to relive one of the biggest songs of the late-2000s. In her Instagram post about the new single and upcoming album release, she wrote, "I’m thrilled to tell you that my new version of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is done and will be with you soon. It has 26 songs including 6 never before released songs from the vault."

The singer has openly spoken about wanting to re-record her old albums after Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun purchased the masters to her early records from her former label Big Machine Records in 2019. As a result of his ownership, Braun would receive a cut of any revenue made from her work. Swift shared her feelings about the change in ownership on Tumblr, writing, "All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years."

As a result, the Evermore singer has since stopped allowing the use of her early songs in film and television, to keep Braun from profitting off of her art. She has also become an advocate for artists' rights to own their own work.
