Prince William Balancing Family and Work In Ongoing Royal Life
After the King and Duchess’s diagnoses, William is at the forefront.
It is a difficult time for the monarchy. Recently, both King Charles and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton have announced cancer diagnoses. While both are being treated and working with doctors, Prince William is balancing his family’s life with the work of the monarchy and his royal duties.
"Whether you're a prince or a pauper, no one would expect anything like this with his father and his wife both being treated for cancer," a royal insider told People Magazine. "William is digging deep."
The Prince of Wales has resumed his royal duties now, after taking time off to spend with his wife during her treatment and with their children — Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (9), and Prince Louis (6).
The Prince and Princess are 41- and 42-years-old, respectively, and have been spending more time together since announcing her diagnosis on March 22nd, after Middleton stepped away from such public life prior to the announcement.
King Charles only ascended the throne about a year ago, at which time Prince William would have recited the Homage of Royal Blood, a oath to his father, the king. Charles though, at 75, won’t be serving for as long as Queen Elizabeth did ascending to the throne at only age 25. In the wake of the King’s diagnosis though, William has been tasked with a higher profile than ever when it comes to his royal duties.
"The double illness has placed enormous pressure on William, both as a parent and inheritor of the family business," royal biographer Robert Lacey told the tabloid. “It has brought all kinds of challenges. He [has handled] it with calmness and lack of drama.”
The public continues to support the King and Duchess, hoping for a speedy recovery and treatment. In the interim though, it seems as though the Prince is working round the clock to balance both his personal and professional lives.
