Though she is now happily married to Shulman, Hathway was first romantically linked in <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/troye-sivan-charli-xcx-1999-live" target="_blank" rel="noopener">1999</a>, to Topher Grace. They made their debut as a couple at the Teen Choice Awards that same year, much to the delight of fans. Hathaway reunited with the&nbsp;That '70s Show star in 2010 on the set of Valentine's Day, where the pair starred opposite one another, playing a young couple on Valentine's Day. Following her launch to stardom, thanks to the widespread success of The Princess Diaries (2001), Hathaway was a major focus of the media, and throughout 2002, was rumored to be dating several prominent figures&mdash;including <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/shopping-in-new-york-city-store-openings-2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York City</a>-based restauranteur Scott Sartiano.&nbsp;

After meeting on the set of Ella Enchanted, Hathaway and her co-star, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/claire-danes-young-photos-movies-husband-age" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hugh Dancy</a>, reportedly dated from 2002 to 2004. In a 2004 interview with <a href="https://www.blackfilm.com/20040402/features/annehathaway.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Black Film</a>, Hathaway shared that the two shared a romantic spark from the beginning, saying "we had [chemistry] from the first time we met, his audition."

According to <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2008/10/follieri200810" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vanity Fair</a>, the two began dating in early 2004 after an introduction from a mutual friend. Follieri was famously late for their first date, but according to friends, quickly won the actress over with a bouquet of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/valentino-garavani-design-signatures-red-leopard-print" target="_blank" rel="noopener">roses</a> and his Italian accent, and were constantly spotted together over the next few years, appearing to be very much in love.&nbsp;

Just a few months after the difficult separation from Follieri and the one-time sighting with Lucas, Hathaway met her now-husband, Adam Shulman, at the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/travel-living/kourtney-kardashian-palm-springs-mansion-new-house" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Palm Springs</a> Film Festival. In a 2013 interview with <a href="https://www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/fashion/fashion-news/news/a32542/when-bazaar-met-anne-hathaway/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harper's Bazaar</a>, the actress confided that "I knew from the second I met him that he was the love of my life.
