The actress and her partner are expanding their family

Aubrey Plaza is now a soon-to-be mother.
The actress is expecting her first child with her partner Christopher Abbott, <a href="https://people.com/aubrey-plaza-pregnant-first-baby-exclusive-11945171" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People</a> confirmed on April 7. Plaza's baby is expected to arrive in the fall of 2026.&nbsp;
&ldquo;It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,&rdquo; a source told the outlet, and added that &ldquo;they feel very blessed.&rdquo;

Before they became a couple, Plaza and Abbott previously worked together on Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, an off-Broadway revival, and Black Bear (2020).&nbsp;
Plaza was married to screenwriter and director Jeff Baena before he passed away in 2025. Prior to his death, the pair had been seperated for several months, though they remained in close contact over text, <a href="https://www.eonline.com/news/1414999/aubrey-plaza-jeff-baena-separated-before-death" target="_blank" rel="noopener">E! News</a> reports.&nbsp;
The actress opened up about her grief with her longtime friend, Amy Poehler, on the Saturday Night Live alum's podcast, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLe9yRkrfCE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Good Hang</a>, last year.
"Overall I&rsquo;m here and I&rsquo;m functioning and I feel really grateful to be moving through the world, but it&rsquo;s a daily struggle obviously,&rdquo; she said.
