Britney Spears Deletes Instagram Following Engagement to Sam Asghari
The singer announced that she was engaged on Sunday night.
It's been a long road for Britney Spears, but the "Lucky" singer has revealed on Sunday that, after five years of dating, she and her boyfriend Sam Asghari are engaged. However, shortly thereafter, fans became concerned after Spears deleted her Instagram.
Fortunately, the singer assured her fans on Twitter that her Instagram sabbatical is only a temporary condition. She tweeted, "Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement 💍 😉!!!! I’ll be back soon 💋🌹✨.”
Many were worried that her social media absence had to do with her conservatorship and pushback from her guardians on her engagement. Earlier this year, Spears spoke openly in a court hearing about the conditions of her conservatorship, revealing that she has been forced to receive birth control and that she wasn't allowed to drive in the car with her boyfriend. Since her bombshell statement, the "Toxic" singer has made great strides in dissolving her father Jamie Spears' involvement with her conservatorship.
After Britney deleted her account, Page Six spoke to a source about the subject. “She’s happy and in a great place,” said the source before adding, “and silence can be a powerful thing and a powerful message.”
Britney's lawyer Mathew Rosengart confirmed to the publication that the break was entirely her choice.
