9 Celeb-Owned Alcohol Brands
These Hollywood stars are dabbling in entrepreneurship with their very own drinks.
In what's shaping up to be the equivalent of an early '00s perfume endorsement, Hollywood's next big off-script business endeavor is none other than spirits. From Grammy-winning artists to catwalk icons— celebrities are investing in the art of distilling. However, this comes as no surprise as endorsements and entrepreneurship are some of the easiest ways for celebrities to diversify their revenue streams. And with Clooney's tequila company selling for $1 billion in 2017, it's not hard to see why the industry's biggest players quickly followed suit.
Yet, establishing an alcohol brand is no easy task and certainly requires a relentless drive, careful coordination, and unwavering passion for the business. From Tequila to Seltzer— L'OFFICEL rounds up the go-to alcohol brands owned by celebrities.
Casamigos
Spending time in Mexico, Hollywood favorite Geroge Clooney and friends Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman had an idea— a tequila that was widely accessible, a brand "for everyone." The trio founded Casamigos— an ultra-premium tequila made in small batches from a master distiller in Jalisco, Mexico. And after selling the brand for $1 billion in 2017, it's safe to say Clooney's mastered his craft.
Skinnygirl
In early 2011 Bethenny Frankel had a dilemma, she couldn't give up her high-calorie cocktail— why should she give up her drink of choice for a "healthier" alternative? Frankel founded Skinnygirl— the low-calorie alcohol label plastered over liquor store shelves everywhere. Beginning with the Skinnygirl Margarita, the reality star has expanded into vodka, ready-to-serve cocktails, and even wine.
Invivo X
While her fictional Carrie Bradshaw may be a Cosmopolitian girl, actress Sarah Jessica Parker is a wine connoisseur at heart. In collaboration with New Zealand wine company Invivo & Co— Parker launched a Sauvignon Blanc and a Rosé along with a second round of vintage wines shortly after. The perfected process has earned praised from critics and was even included among the 100 best wines by Wine Spectator.
Maison No.9
Backstage after a long day of rehearsals preparing for the 61st Grammys, Post Malone found himself engrossed in a conversation with James Morrissey. James described a vineyard in the South of France that was producing the most incredible Rosé— and the artist was hooked. Maison No.9 was founded to capture the Mediterranean lifestyle and bring an unmatched line of premium Rosé to the market.
Cacti Seltzer
Travis Scott presents spiked seltzer done differently. Crafted with American brewing master Anheuser-Busch, the fruity spirit comes in a variety of flavors like lime, pineapple, and strawberry. And with 100% premium natural agave from Mexico— it's no wonder why the seltzer has become a celebrity choice drink.
818
Named after the supermodel's own neighborhood, Kendall Jenner is combining her love for tequila and the planet. With a goal to make the best-tasting tequila, it seems Jenner has more than accomplished this with the brand already claiming awards after less than a year on the market. But more importantly, 818 is for the environment. For every bottle sold— the line donates one percent to environmental non-profit partners around the globe.
Virginia Black Whisky
Alongside spirits entrepreneur Brent Hocking, the award-winning musical artist founded Virginia Black Whisky back in 2016. On a mission to redefine Whisky, Drake and his business partner envisioned sharing a personally selected collection of two, three, and four-year Bourbon — all at an affordable price. And with reviews claiming it to be "the smoothest whisky" they've had— it seems Drake has added master distiller to his never-ending list of talents.
King St. Vodka
The actress and entrepreneur recently added a vodka line to her ever-expanding business portfolio. In a male-dominated industry, Kate Hudson set out to create a craft vodka and better represent women in the liquor industry. Aligning with the star's health-conscious lifestyle, each bottle is gluten-free, crafted with alkaline water, and distilled 7x for purity.
Juneshine
Gossip Girl star Evan Mock is more than just an actor. The young entrepreneur has tossed his hat into a variety of rings, from fashion to alcohol. As a co-inventor of Juneshine, Mock supports making hard kombucha in an eco-friendly way. The brand is 100 percent carbon neutral and gives back one percent of annual sales to 1% For The Planet. He recently collaborated with the label to create his own P.O.G flavor, inspired by the traditional Hawaiian drink made of passionfruit, orange, and guava.
