All the Americans Who Have Won Gold So Far At The Paris 2024 Olympics
Here's what we know about the outstanding individuals from Team USA who have excelled at the highest level.
The 2024 Paris Olympics have been chock-full of memorable, viral, and historic moments as athletes compete on the most competitive stage in the world at the quadrennial games. While athletes from all variety of countries continue to prove themselves for glory, recognition, and pride for their homeland, there is one thing they are all seeking: the coveted gold medal. That’s not to say bronze and silver medals aren’t incredibly impressive too–honestly, just getting selected for the games is a huge accomplishment considering the competition people are up against. However, the term “going for gold” exists for a reason. Few feelings can likely compare to standing at the top of the podium for a sport that you’ve given your all to. The Olympic gold medal is not only a huge win for your country, it is tangible, legitimate proof that you were the best in the world at your sport at some point.
So far, Team USA is trailing behind in China in gold medals with 9, just behind China which currently has 12, but the United States are ahead in total medal count with 40, compared to the runner-up France with 29. Here are all of the Gold Medals we know will be coming back over the pond and precisely who earned them.
Team USA's Caeleb Dressel, Chris Guiliano, Hunter Armstrong, and Jack Alexy pulled ahead of Australia and Italy for the Gold on the very first day of Olympic Medal events, July 27. Armstrong stood out in the pool with an incredible 46.75-second 100-meter.

The United States earned a gold medal through the elite performance of the women's fencing team on Thursday, August 1. The team was composed of Lee Kiefer (whose talent precedes her) Lauren Scruggs, Maia Weintraub, and Jacqueline Dubrovich. They overcame Italy in a close match of 45-39 where Weintraub was substituted into the team last minute and forced to face Italy's most experienced and decorated fencer Arianna Errigo.

Led by Liam Corrigan, Michael Grady, Justin Best, and Nick Mead, team USA sprung out ahead in the Rowing 2,000-meter men's four final to earn the country its first medal in a team rowing event since 1960. Several years of shared experience shined through for the boys in the boat for this historic victory.

Simone Biles claimed her second gold medal of the Paris Games on Thursday, August 1 in the individual all-around gymnastics event. After persevering through a slight slip-up on the uneven bars, she had an excellent floor exercise routine that secured her a stunning sixth gold medal for her career.

Led by the one-and-only Simone Biles, Team USA brought home the gold in Women's Team Artistic Gymnastics on Tuesday, July 30. The team consisted of Biles, of course, alongside Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Jade Carey. It was quite a redemptive storyline for the team after golds in London 2012 and Rio 2016 but only a silver in Tokyo 2020.

Kate Douglass, the upstart from Pelham, New York secured the first gold medal of her Olympic career on Thursday, August 1. She also gave a critical jolt of energy to Team USA's silver-ridden swimming department through her beautiful, gliding breaststroke for a time of 2:19.24

The world's most dominant swimming nation struck gold as Torri Huske edged out fellow American Gretchen Walsh by just .04 seconds. The Virginia-born Stanford swimmer has won four total medals, with this being her first gold.

Katie Ledecky took to the podium for a gold medal on Wednesday, July 31 with an uncontested performance in the pool for her long-distance swim. With it, she established herself as the greatest female swimmer of all time and tied Michael Phelps in total medal count.

On Sunday, July 28, Lee Kiefer defeated Lauren Scruggs, another American, for the gold medal in the women's individual foil final. The Cleveland native's exquisite precision shined through as she jabbed her way to victory in a dominant performance.
