Will Meghan Markle Throw In For Kamala Harris?

The Duchess of Sussex is expected to be the next celebrity endorsement for the Democratic presidential nominee.

As the latest of a string of celebrity endorsements, the next likely approval for Kamala Harris' 2024 bid for the United States presidency is expected to come from Meghan Markle herself. Although the Duchess of Sussex has been relatively quiet in the public eye as of late—with the exception of the announcement of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and her May trip to Nigeria with her husband—her prior interactions with the Democratic candidate and her history of political involvement suggests an endorsement is a likely next step for Markle.

If announced, Markle would join the ranks of other high-profile figures like Beyoncé, Kesha, George Clooney, Megan Thee Stallion, and Ariana Grande, among others, in supporting the Harris-Walz ticket.

Following Markle and Prince Harry's very public, controversial move to step away from their royal duties and move their family to the United States, the former actress has become very outspoken in her advocacy for young women and girls, and has come forward in support for other female figures facing controversy and hate. Shortly after Markle and Prince Harry married in 2018, the former was subject to racist and misogynist criticism by the general public and opened up about it in a later interview. The clip of Markle's statement quickly made the rounds on social media, prompting a supportive response from Harris.

A few months later in June 2020, Markle spoke out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and garnered yet another message of approval from Harris on social media.

While the Duchess of Sussex has avoided controversial political topics throughout much of her time in the spotlight, many speculate that due to Harris' logical, firm stance on many key issues in the 2024 debate, an endorsement from Markle is on the way—an expectation that also factors in Harris' past support for the former royal throughout many of her trickiest public moments.
