Royal Expert Thinks Harry and Meghan’s Projects Are a 'Diversion Tactic'

The Duchess of Sussex's jam gifting and The Duke's podcast deal may reportedly be part of a series of tactical distractions.

If Meghan's recent American Riviera Orchard Jam gifting initiative, Prince Harry's recent podcast deal, and the couple's upcoming lifestyle and cooking show on Netflix all seem a bit random and hurried to you, you're not the only one. Royal Expert Richard Kay recently took to the Daily Mail's podcast, Palace Confidential, to say that the couple are seemingly "in a hurry to make announcements' and look 'busy,'" per the Daily Mail

If you're unfamiliar with the aforementioned projects, then here's a bit of background. On March 14th, the Duchess of Sussex made a surprising appearance on Instagram for the first time since before her marriage to Harry, and it looked to be a promotion for her newest lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. So far, the brand's only venture seems to be a collection of strawberry jams that have been distributed to some of the world's most elite individuals. The VIP list of jam receivers includes Mindy Kaling, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kris Jenner, and Argentine socialite Delfina Blaquier. As for Harry, the podcast that he shares with his wife talks about improving and discussing mental health among youths and teenagers specifically. Meghan was also set to release a second season of Archetypes, but the project has been pushed back to 2025, according to ELLE UK.

With the new Netflix show, the couple is soon set to grace the screens for those who have the streaming platform with a program dedicated to the pleasures and hobbies of cooking, gardening, and entertaining.

Kay continued on to say that while Markle is passionate about American Riviera Orchard, the announcement of something new and upcoming is a way for the Duchess to pause and figure out what to do next.

The Daily Mail's Richard Eden went on to say that what the couple are doing is a "very strange way of operating."

"I mean, take Netflix; they will announce a new film for something when it's gone into production or it's about to be broadcast," said Eden while commenting on the peculiarity of the couple constantly announcing deals while their projects go through issues with postponement or delays.

While Markle's spokesperson declined to comment, they assured that the Duchess has "very high-profile guests" lined up for the upcoming season of her podcast.
