The royal couple sported monochromatic linen looks during a visit to a Nigerian school.&nbsp;

On day one of the <a href="https://preview.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/prince-harry-and-meghan-markle-project-announcements" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Duke and Duchess of Sussex</a>'s Nigeria Tour, the pair arrived at a school in Abuja, the country's capital city. Clad in coordinated monochromatic <a href="https://preview.lofficielusa.com/fashion/how-to-wear-linen-for-summer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">linen</a> attire, the couple appeared ready to brave the country's hot climate and eager to engage in the events taking place on the first day of their visit.&nbsp;

For an elevated, effortlessly elegant take on the recent <a href="https://preview.lofficielusa.com/fashion/boho-wedding-dresses-are-a-brides-dream" target="_blank" rel="noopener">boho-chic</a> renaissance, Markle sported a neutral peach-toned maxi dress. Complete with a subtly tiered skirt, a sharp waistline, a halter neck, and a backless component, the dress was the vision of quiet luxury&mdash;a style that the Duchess has overwhelmingly favored since the family's move to Montecito. Markle finished off her boho-inspired California cool look with a low ponytail with braided details and a pair of understated heels&mdash;which were hidden under the Suits star's flowy, floor-length dress. While Markle's dress was undoubtedly front-and-center in this look, her pared-back <a href="https://preview.lofficielusa.com/shopping/solid-yellow-gold-jewelry-to-wear-everyday" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gold jewelry</a> also made a major statement. Sparkling in the sun, the Duchess wore vintage Lanvin button earrings, a timelessly chic Cartier watch, and a simple gold necklace.&nbsp;
On the heels of his return to the UK for his <a href="https://preview.lofficielusa.com/fashion/meghan-markle-2023-invictus-games-outfits-fashion-prince-harry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Invictus Games</a> appearance, Prince Harry swapped out his sharp blue suit for a laid-back linen look. The former royal went for a true neutral hue with his outfit, donning a khaki-colored button-down shirt and pant set.&nbsp;
For the first day of their short, but jam-packed visit, the couple visited schoolchildren at the Lights Academy in Abuja, where they spent the day touring the <a href="https://preview.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/charles-spencer-princess-diana-childhood-photo-boarding-school" target="_blank" rel="noopener">school</a>, meeting the students, and enjoying a traditional dance exhibition. In the afternoon, Prince Harry visited a nearby military hospital, where he met injured service members.&nbsp;
Fans noted the absence of the couple's children, <a href="https://preview.lofficielusa.com/politics-culture/why-archie-is-not-a-prince-harry-meghan-markle-son" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Archie</a> and Lilibet, during the Duke and Duchess's first official appearance in Nigeria. As the two children&mdash;five years old and two years old, respectively&mdash;are still young, it has been speculated that they remained at home in California for the duration of the 72-hour trip.&nbsp;

Although the couple's trip is completely unaffiliated with the royal family&mdash;Prince Harry and <a href="https://preview.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/samantha-cohen-claims-meghan-markle-bullied-palace-staff" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Meghan Markle</a> stepped away from their role as Senior Royals in 2020&mdash;fans of the royal family were quick to note several aspects of the trip, with the most glaring being the name of Markle's dress. The peach-toned piece, created by designer Heidi Merrick, is officially called "The Windsor," which critics of <a href="https://preview.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/meghan-markle-is-back-on-instagram-and-launching-a-new-brand-american-riviera-orchard" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Markle</a> ran wild with, pointing out the irony in the situation. Whether or not it was intentional&mdash;or even known to Markle, who typically works with a stylist&mdash;is unknown, but the surfacing of this fact has riled up plenty of fans and media outlets alike.&nbsp;
Over the rest of their Nigeria tour, the couple has a packed itinerary, with Markle and Prince Harry making both joint and separate appearances at various other events, including a Women in Leadership conference, a basketball clinic, and a reception honoring military service members and their families.&nbsp;
