Like any young royal, Princess Charlotte has been in the spotlight since birth. At just nine years old,  she has already been to just about every royal event a princess can attend. From weddings and funerals, Christmas and Easter church services, Trooping the Colour events, sporting events, and more, the princess is used to dressing for the occasion.

As the second child and only daughter to Prince William and a granddaughter to King Charles III, Princess Charlotte is third in line to the British throne. She was born in London in 2015 and Britain immediately fell in love, celebrating the birth of the princess by illuminating historic landmarks throughout London in pink.

Prince William and Princess Kate have done their best to keep their children and their private lives out of the public eye, but Princess Charlotte and her brothers, Prince Louis and Prince George, have made quite a few public appearances with the royal family to participate in traditional royal events and various engagements. With her attendance at these events, the young princess has already become quite the children's style icon. Princess Charlotte's dresses, whether they are casual or fit for a royal ball, are always setting new trends in children's fashion.

Usually spotted next to her mother Princess Kate, a British fashion icon, Charlotte is often seen in cardigans and patterned dresses, demonstrating quintessential British children's style. When Charlotte was very young, Kate always matched her daughter's tights and dresses. At Wimbledon this year, Charlotte sported a polka dot ruffled dress. Her formal wear is always timeless and traditional, from silver wreath tiaras to chic white dresses for the holidays. Even though she dresses up when she's in public, she's no stranger to a casual denim skirt or overalls, as personal family portraits display.

Having Princess Diana as a grandmother means that comparisons will often be drawn between Princess Charlotte's style and some of the late princess's most memorable outfits. Princess Kate has referenced Diana with her outfits several times, so it wouldn't be surprising to see her daughter follow suit. It's safe to say that as she gets older, Princess Charlotte's style will become more and more inspirational to young girls all over the world.

As she begins to define her own style, L'OFFICIEL has compiled the princess's most distinguished outfits from over the years. Scroll below to see Princess Charlotte's style evolve from puff-sleeve dresses to tailored coats and cardigans.
