Inside Sarah Hoover's Big Party for Hew New Book, 'Motherload,' at Lucky’s Soho
The soirée celebrated the launch of Lucky’s new brunch menu and Hoover’s latest book, The Motherload, with pajamas, caviar, and late-night French toast.
Who says pancakes and pajamas are just for the morning? On Tuesday evening, Lucky’s Soho turned into a whimsical, late-night slumber party as acclaimed author Sarah Hoover hosted a playful soirée, cheekily dubbed “Breakfast for Dinner." The event was a dual celebration of Lucky’s new weekend brunch menu and the release of Hoover’s new memoir, The Motherload: Episodes from the Brink of Motherhood. Known for her sharp wit and cultural commentary, the writer's latest work explores the realities of modern motherhood.
The restaurant, located at 224 Lafayette Street in New York City, swapped its usual evening atmosphere for cozy-chic vibes. Guests arrived dressed in Leset pajamas, fully embracing the slumber party theme. Tables were decked out in décor—including Ouija boards and Hello Kitty stickers—adding to the night’s fun festivities.
The menu offered guests an exclusive preview of Lucky’s upcoming brunch offerings, which officially debut on April 5, to start being served every Saturday and Sunday. Dishes like deviled eggs topped with caviar, crispy hashbrowns with cheddar fondue, and brioche French toast stole the show. Each one being paired with signature cocktails was like a cherry on top for those who joined Tuesday night.
Notable attendees included Coco Baudelle, Leigh Lezark, Tinx, Hunter Abrams, Alexandra O'Neill, Noah Ricketts, Haley Sacks, Unity Phelan, Maayan Zilberman, and Tatiana Hambro, among others.
The Motherload—which explores a candid tale of motherhood and offers Hoover's honest experience, including all the anxieties, guilt, and unraveling that came along the way—was published in January 2025 and is available to shop online and at select retailers.
