TikTok’s overwhelming popularity has only grown stronger in the last year. The social media platform has become a global phenomenon and one-way destination for entertainment made for and by the people. Within the platform, you can find small communities interested in everything from beauty and fashion to comedy, politics, and even cooking.

With easy-to-follow recipes and aesthetically pleasing foods, people all across the world have hopped onto TikTok to share their favorite dishes. From exquisite pasta plates to colorful desserts, if one thing is certain, it's that you don't need to be a culinary expert to go viral.

Everybody from famous influencers to top-tier celebrities are giving these tasty trends a try. Here are six viral foods to make at home.

Banana Bread

Perhaps the first comfort food of quarantine, banana bread is a familiar yet tasty snack. As bananas get ripe, their smell and flavor intensify, which is why banana bread should never be made with fresh, store-bought bananas. There are many different recipes out there for baking banana bread, and you can personalize it to your taste by adding chocolate, coconut, cranberry, nuts, or any other topping you want.

Dalgona Coffee

Dalgona coffee ,or whipped coffee, is simply just that: whipped coffee. It is made from mixing instant coffee with equal parts sugar and water until you achieve a rich-caramel toned color. The trend was one of the first to go viral in the early days of quarantine in 2020 due to its simplicity, tastiness, and IG-worthy presentation. The trend remained viral as the beverage gained even more popularity when people discovered that coffee could be replaced with matcha or hot chocolate.

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp instant coffee
2 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp hot water
1 cup milk
Ice

Directions:

Add the instant coffee, sugar, and hot water to a bowl and mix using a hand whisk or mixer. In a separate glass, add milk and ice. Fill glass with the caramel-toned froth and enjoy.

Mini Pancake Cereal

This easy-to-make mini pancake cereal trend might be the cutest yet. The recipe is quite simple, as the name implies it consists of making a bunch of mini-sized pancakes and serving them in a bowl and with milk. The fun part is that you can add anything you like, from chocolate chips to delicious fruits like strawberries, kiwi, or bananas. Finish with a touch of drizzled honey, jam, chocolate, or caramel.

Cloud Bread

Cloud bread’s overnight fame was due to its intriguing and surprising appearance. The trend quickly caught popularity as videos of people ripping the bread in half to reveal its appealing color spread on social media. The fluffy and colorful bread is easy to make with three basic ingredients: egg whites, cornstarch, and sugar (food coloring is optional).

Nature's Cereal

Consisting of berries, pomegranate seeds, and coconut water, Nature’s Cereal is one of the latest food trends to go viral. First introduced by @natures_food, the dish became a 2021  sensation when Grammy-winner Lizzo decided to try it for herself and share it with her 14.2 million TikTok followers. This healthy recipe is said to aid your overall wellness as it helps for dealing with digestion discomfort and boosts your energy levels.

Baked Feta Pasta

The simplicity of the viral feta pasta recipe is too good to be true. Just add a block of feta cheese into an oven-safe pan surrounded by cherry tomatoes, olive oil, and garlic; and bake at 400° F for 30 minutes. Then, add your favorite type of cooked pasta, and mix it all together. This delicious recipe started in Finland when Finnish blogger Jenni Häyrinen posted the recipe of uunifetapasta or oven-baked pasta to her Instagram account. Soon after, the dish was quick to take off in the United States as it rapidly became viral on TikTok and Instagram.

Baked Oats

Like dessert for breakfast, baked oats make oatmeal not-so-boring. From chocolate peanut butter to funfetti, baked oats can be switched up for any preferences, and common add-ins include fresh or dried fruit and nuts. While some opt to use a blender or food processor to grind the oats into a flour-like powder before mixing with any kind of milk and baking, others choose to use whole oats for texture.
