Zayn Malik Pleads No Contest to Harassing Gigi and Yolanda Hadid
The singer has been ordered by the court to attend an anger management class and a domestic violence program.
The news about Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid's breakup just gets wilder. In a new revelation, court documents show that on Wednesday the former One Direction singer pled no contest to four counts of criminal harassment against the model's mother Yolanda.
News of the altercation came to light on Thursday after sources close to the family spoke to TMZ. According to court documents, the issue occurred on September 29 at the couple's rural Pennsylvania home. Malik allegedly called the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum a "fucking Dutch slut" and ordered her to "stay away from [his] fucking daughter." Aside from the verbal jabs, Malik has been accused of grabbing and pushing Yolanda "into a dresser causing mental anguish and physical pain."
When a security guard arrived, Malik allegedly started fighting with him, screaming, "Get the fuck out of my fucking house copper.”
He is also accused of calling Gigi while she was in Paris, saying, "Strap on some fucking balls and defend your partner against your fucking mother in my house."
As a result of the plea, Malik has been fined, given a 90-day probation on each of the counts for a total of 360 days, and ordered to complete an anger management course and a domestic violence program. He has also been barred from contacting Yolanda and the security guard. If the singer meets all the conditions within six months with no violations, the judge has the option to end his probation.
After news of the incident dropped, Malik released a statement on social media denying the accusations and offering his side of the story.
“As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in. A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart,” Malik wrote in his statement.
He explained that in order to “protect” Khai, his one-year-old daughter with Gigi, he agreed to “not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”
Malik continued, “This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press.”
