No regular moon, the pink phenomenon known as the Supermoon is expected to take place between April 26 and April 27, 2021, and will reportedly reach peak illumination around 11:33 p.m. EST.

So what is a Supermoon?
The concept of a Supermoon was originally conceived by the astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979, and technically, it applies to “either a new or full moon that occurs when the moon is within 90 percent of perigee, its closest approach to Earth.

Why will the moon be pink during a Supermoon?
The Farmer’s Almanac clarifies that despite its appearance, the pink moon is not the actual color, but rather a reflection of the vivid spring pleasantries we might be experiencing on the ground: "Although we wish this name had to do with the color of the Moon, the reality is not quite as mystical or awe-inspiring. In truth, April’s full Moon often corresponded with the early springtime blooms of a certain wildflower native to eastern North America: Phlox subulata—commonly called creeping phlox or moss phlox—which also went by the name 'moss pink.'"
