Bella Hadid Opens Up About Why She Stopped Drinking
Bella Hadid is, for the first time, celebrating Dry January, cutting her alcohol consumption throughout the month.
Bella Hadid is one of the most beloved names in fashion today, winning a legion of fans and contracts with acclaimed international brands. And, even with all the glamor of the catwalks and paparazzi, the model makes a point of showing her more vulnerable side by speaking candidly with her followers about depression, anxiety, and more. Now, Hadid is talking about another issue involving her health: alcohol.
“My body does not do well with alcohol,” the model said to W Magazine. “And in the fashion industry, we work a lot. So we feel like at night we can play a lot, and then wake up and do it again. And I realized that is not a sustainable life for me to live.”
Hadid revealed that she used to drink a lot in college. “After a whole day of school, I had to go to castings and then go get my art supplies and I would come home and drink a bottle of wine and end the day."
This year, the model is celebrating her first Dry January, a time in which people often forego alcohol after the raucous end-of-year celebrations.
In September 2021, Bella unveiled her new role as Co-Founder of Kin Euphorics, a non-alcoholic beverage brand that, according to Hadid, “is the first drink to use adaptogens and focus on brain health, while expanding our mind and calming our nervous system.” The model has been consuming this beverage since 2019.
In an interview with Vogue on the new partnership, Hadid also spoke about her history with drinking. “I don’t socially drink nearly as much as I used to,” she said. “You can either take one shot of whiskey to feel better for 20 minutes or you can drink Kin every day to feel better for a lifetime.”
