Those days around the holidays that aren't for celebrating and yet still define the season: Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and...Blue Monday? The name may not ring an immediate bell, but there's no doubt we've all participated in its unpleasantries. The third Monday in January is statistically shown to be the point in the new year when the excitement of a fresh start has worn off and resolutions are left unfulfilled, leaving us a bit discouraged and blue (hence the name).

This year, don't let Blue Monday get you down. If we learned anything from the last few years, it's that people are resilient. Whether you decided 2023 would be the year you become a yogi, abstain from alcohol, or finally set up your side hustle, there are still 349 days left to meet your goal. L'OFFICIEL is here to help you stay on course, whatever that may look like for you, with five tips to reinvigorate your new year's resolutions.

Find a Fitness Community

Got fitness goals? Don't we all, so don't go it alone! Whether through an app, Zoom session, or in-person (socially distanced and masked), working out can be fun if you find a community. Check out NYC yogi cult-favorite Sky Ting Yoga; join the trailblazing trio that is Akin Akman, Angela Manuel Davis, and Trey Laird via the Aaarmy app; or get moving with DC spin start-up Hustle. There are also plenty of at-home modifications you can make to your fitness routine, whether it's a solo workout or a virtual group sweat sesh.

Decorate Your Dry Drinks

Limiting your liquor doesn't have to look dry. Throwing a couple of decorative additions into your zero-proof cocktail can be the difference between keeping your promise to yourself and slipping. Give these bartender-approved gorgeous non-alcoholic drinks a try from Ghia, Lyres, Proteau, and more.

Make Time for Meditation

Making meditating a habit could be the thing that keeps you on track to achieving the goals you set for this year. There's no denying this is a stressful and fast-paced world we are living in, and taking time to recenter is important. Don't know where to start? Try an easy-to-use app like Headspace, Happify, or Calm to guide your meditation. If you're a tactile learner, holding a healing crystal and setting an intention can make all the difference.

Prioritize Your Space

Spending more time at home than ever before has redefined the importance of interior design in many people's lives. If your space isn't functioning for you or is feeling tired, it's time to redecorate. Play with a comforting color palette like interior firm favorite Crosby Studios, create a cozy hygge reading nook, breathe life (literally) into your home with some plants, put function first with a MoMA Design Store find, or pretty up your space with a post-modern furniture purchase.

Get Serious About Self-Care

Skincare, haircare, digestive care–the list of "cares" goes on. Maybe you're focused on one area of self-care or maybe you're tackling them all (major props if that's you). Either way, don't let this often overused and ominous term overtake you. Start small and stay consistent with a gemstone facial rollapple cider vinegar shot, or rice water hair wash.
