Your Guide to 'Glass Skin'

Getting the glass skin make-up effect is no longer a secret. Discover the guide and all the essential steps for radiant and luminous skin.

We can't wait to enthusiastically welcome the warmer days and embrace the spring and summer seasons; when our skin  is delicately kissed by the sun (while protected with a very generous dose of SPF), giving us a radiant complexion. Until then, we'll be employing make-up techniques to achieve that much desired glow.

After seeing the glass skin beauty trend literally explode on our feeds, we felt the urgent need to learn all the secrets to recreate it. The South Korean trend is characterized by crystalline, smooth and shiny skin, very similar to porcelain. This trend is known for its incredibly luminous finish , achieved through a rigorous multi-step skincare routine . Here is an essential guide to obtain the desired effect:

1. Prepare the skin

It's essential to prep your skin with a moisturizer or a shiny, hydrating facial oil to give your complexion a glowing base. Then, with a primer, blur the pores and fill in the fine lines.

2. It's time to foundation

Choose a light foundation that gives your skin a radiant and extremely natural finish. If you only have a matte foundation on hand, mix it with a few drops of liquid highlighter to transform it into a luminous foundation.

3. Correct dark circles

Use a highlighting concealer to hide dark circles and brighten the high points of your face. To achieve the illuminating effect, choose a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your skin tone.

4. The glossy effect

Finally, it's time to make your skin look almost like glass. The best way to do this is to apply a clear balm to your cheeks for a glowy effect. Then, to complete the glass skin look, highlight the upper part of the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the Cupid's bow and the forehead with a highlighter.

4. The cream blush

To complete the rest of your look, apply a touch of cream blush to your cheeks. Alternatively, you can use a highlighting blush or mix a little highlighter with the blush color. Or, you can easily opt for your creamy lipstick to dab on the skin and blend with your fingers.

5. Lips and eyes

For a natural effect, cover your lips with a generous layer of balm and then apply lipstick only to the inner center. Blend the color outwards to give your makeup a blended look. For the eyes, however, keep the make-up light to complete this trend, while for the eyebrows a transparent brow gel will be enough to treat them.
