How to Get Rid of Frizzy Hair
If you want smooth hair with no frizz, check out these tips from an expert.
Frizz is one of the main complaints women have about their hair, however, it's nothing more than hair lacking moisture. Whether you have straight, wavy, or curly hair, when the hair becomes dry or broken from excessive heat or wind exposure, frizz can take over, turning a good hair day into a bad one.
According to hairdresser Nill Vale, frizz has a solution. "I really believe in the prevention methodology. I usually say that everything we can prevent must be effective, even if you already have frizz, you need to undergo treatment, so it's much better to treat yourself preventively than to do it on top of a problem,” says the stylist.
Vale explains that to improve the appearance when the hair is frizzy, consider adding moisturizing products to your hair routine. “Hydration should be used weekly in nutritive oils, controlling serums, thermal protectors, conditioners, products with the purpose of closing the cuticle, treating the hair fiber from the inside out," he explains.
The hairdresser also says that any chemical treatments such as highlights or coloring can cause frizz, but that it's possible to reduce this effect with the use of neutralizing shampoos and satin hair caps
"The friction of some fabrics can leave the hair dry. The satin cap does not encourage fraying or split ends, leaving the hair aligned and defined, reducing dryness," he explains.
However, Vale does point out that frizz is often tied to heat sources, such as the blow dryers and straighteners, but he has some tricks for. “The cold option of the dryer is the secret, as it provides cuticle closure, sealing them and giving them shine, leaving the hairs aligned. As for the straightener, even using thermal protectors, excessive heat can damage the hair, which is why I recommend letting the hair dry naturally, at least twice a week," he concludes.
