How to Get the Star Nails Trend
Channel this astrologically powerful month with night-sky-inspired nails.
Extravagant nail designs are the most fun way to spice up your look for spring, and this March is no different. In fact, the stars are aligning for everyone this month with an especially powerful astrological time with star nails. As color makes its way back into our wardrobes with winter's end, adding some personality to our beauty routines can also be exciting. Fun, over-the-top nails are one of the biggest current beauty trends. The star nails taking over your TikTok are the perfect way to start experimenting with nail art. In four easy steps, L'OFFICIEL breaks down exactly how to achieve the star nails trend.
Draw stars on a plastic bag.
Though nail artists have steady enough hands to draw the designs directly onto the nails, not all of us have this level of control. To make this trend more accessible, it is easier to draw stars on a plastic bag using a writing utensil like a marker or pen. We recommend a clear plastic bag because it will blend into the nail more easily. Whether you want mini stars or a large star that takes up the whole nail, draw your desired design onto the clear bag.
Paint over the design with nail polish.
After you've drawn the stars onto a clear plastic bag, paint over the designs with your preferred nail polish. Color, formula, and brand are all completely up to you. Once the original color has dried, follow up with a gel-formula top coat. (We love this one from Essie.)
Cut the stars out.
Once the nail polish has dried on the clear bag, cut the designs out.
Adhere the design to your nails.
If you want a nail polish color underneath the star design, ensure that the paint has dried fully. Whether or not you'd like your natural nail to shine through or you've painted your nails, coat the nails you'd like to add a star with a top coat. This allows for the design to have something to adhere to. Once the star has dried down, follow up with another layer of top coat to keep everything in place and smooth the design.
