Every Look From Chanel's Fall/Winter 2022 Collection

Virgine Viard's latest collection for Chanel is a celebration of tweed.

Chanel has always been a master at tweed. From Coco Chanel's early collections in her Parisian boutique to Karl Lagerfeld's ready-to-wear adaptations for the 2010s It Girls, tweed is a hallmark of the Maison. Under Virginie Viard's tenure, the designer has weaved her own punk-inclined creations into this cornerstone of the brand. However, her Fall/Winter 2022 collection dove headfirst into the textile, making it the centerpiece of the collection.

From the tweed-covered invitations to the tweed-tastic set design, this show paid homage to the House's historic place in Parisian fashion and the signature designs that have traversed its long history. However, Viard did blend in a healthy dash of Y2K inspiration to satisfy today's trends, like the collection's early focus on bright hues and stacked accessories or the allusion to early-2000s punk fashion using tweed in lieu of plaid.

Two highlights of the collection were the show's closing looks: a black sequined suit and a button-front lace gown—both representative of Viard's creative relationship with the Chanel legacy.
