Elevated blazers and trench coats, sensual silk dresses, big fur coats, and sequined pieces took center stage at the Michael Kors Fall/Winter 2024 show. Held in the building that was once home to the Barneys New York Store, Kors awakened the dormant former fashion hub with his latest collection. Down the iconic spiral staircase and onto the runway, the show opened with a clean-cut midi-length skirt suit with a deep slit followed by numerous black-and-white looks and sleek slip dresses that lean into a corporate chic aesthetic. In this series of garments, Kors plays with the idea of covered and uncovered by pairing delicate lace satin pieces with dramatic outerwear. These outfit pairings thus combine the laid-back casual style of the '90s with the sculptured and formal dressing sense of the '30s.

“One of my hallmarks has always been fashion that stands the test of time,” said Kors. “And when we talk about what’s timeless and what endures—it’s quality, it’s simplicity, it’s sophistication, it’s clothes that make you feel confident and powerful.”

The sequined dresses and sets, like the animal print jacket, a Kors signature, add fun to the collection. As of late, animal print has become a favorite among fashion consumers as trends like the Mob Wife aesthetic take form. Cozy knits and shearling jackets make an appearance as well— a standard inclusion for any Fall/Winter collection. Sheer fabrics were also incorporated into numerous looks, a popular trend this season as many brands are embracing diaphanous looks. The show closed with a black double-breasted blazer and a high-low skirt, almost mirroring the opening look as the cycle of Kors's theme of timelessness comes full circle.
