Valentino Reinvents Black Tie Dress Codes For Fall/Winter 2023
In this collection, the tie becomes the symbol of liberation from a formal dress code.
That's right, with his latest Fall/Winter 2023 collection, the creative flair of Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino has shown how much ties can offer many possibilities. Nothing is so obvious, but everything is always meticulously in its place. The Italian designer loves to use metaphors as a way of creating one-of-a-kind imagery by focusing on the details and specific emblematic elements.
Black Tie indeed. Everything seemed to go far beyond a single element, resulting in a real story of restriction, formality, and power, centered around the tie. Many looks hit on the catwalk, each one capable of untying the meaning of this garment. Piccioli starts from a single element to deepen and articulate a theme as only he can do in today's fashion system. The story of a homogeneous but varied wardrobe, in which even a skirt is worn by both men and women.
Everything finds a perfect synthesis in the choice of sober color nuances, in the modern and eclectic universe that Piccioli knows how to govern and then express. For the accessories, on the other hand, the "Rockstuds," introduced for the first time in 2010, become an irreplaceable and stainless leitmotiv throughout the show, applied to Valentino Garavani shoes and accessories.
Guests at the fashion show included some of today's biggest celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Florence Pugh, Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz-Beckham, Emma Roberts, and Nicole Ari Parker.
