BTS Announced as Louis Vuitton's New House Ambassadors
Virgil Abloh and Louis Vuitton's "Dynamite" new partnership is another example of fashion embracing the popularity of K-pop.
As K-pop continues to dominate the charts and our Twitter feeds, fashion brands have promptly taken note. So it comes as no surprise that Louis Vuitton has announced the South Korean boyband BTS as the House's new global ambassadors. While their chart-topping hits like "Dynamite" and "Boy with Luv" continue to flourish on streaming platforms around the world, the band is setting their sights on the fashion industry, which they will undoubtedly conquer with similar success.
“I am delighted BTS are joining Louis Vuitton today," says Louis Vuitton Men's Artistic Director Virgil Abloh. "I am looking forward to this wonderful partnership which adds a modern chapter to the House, merging luxury and contemporary culture. I can’t wait to share all the very exciting projects we are working on."
After breaking Billboard and Guinness world records in the music industry and snagging a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, the group—made up of members V, RM, Suga, Jungkook, Jin, J-Hope and Jimin—has made a name for themselves, both for their talent and their style. The seven young men wore sleek black and tan suits from the Louis Vuitton Men's Fall/Winter 2021 collection for their 2021 Grammy Awards performance while in virtual attendance from South Korea.
As the newest members of the brand's ambassadorship, they join the ranks of Sophie Turner, and Léa Seydoux, and 21 Savage as faces of the brand. “Becoming global brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton is a truly exciting moment for us. We are excited for our upcoming projects with Virgil Abloh," adds the group.
