Fendi Reinvents its Baguette Bag
The new, handmade Fendi Baguette bag is a true tribute to Italian craftsmanship.
Aiming to amplify the artisans based in different regions of Italy, Fendi has reinterpreted its Baguette bag.
Titled Hand in Hand, the project represents the meeting of the hands of local artisans with that of Fendi artisans, who together managed to give life to a unique collaboration. Applying unbeatable skills and techniques, the union of these talents resulted in the creation of authentic pieces that establish a solid chain of relationships and a crucial step to preserve and transmit the energy, creativity and savoir-faire of local artisans throughout Italy.
Transporting us to the city of Ravenna, the province where Emilia Romagna resides, the Akomena Spazio Mosaico workshop has continued this practice since the late 1980s, drawing inspiration from the city's mosaic heritage. Dating back to the 5th and 6th centuries, the Byzantine tradition of hand-cut mosaics is known for the art of assembling minute pieces of glass or pottery into complex patterns and pictorial scenes on walls, floors, and ceilings.
Imitating the golden eight-pointed stars, the symbol of Ravenna, a mosaic of stars representing the starry sky of the Gallia Placida mausoleum, adorns this exclusive Fendi Hand in Hand Baguette with each delicate piece of tesserae glass backed in gold or silver foil. Mosaic embellishments run the length of the strap and FF buckle, with a warm glow dazzling inside.
