Gauntlett Cheng’s Fall 2018 Show Featured Dogs

As NYFW comes to a close, one show in particular is still on our minds because of the unconventional models: dogs. The label Gauntlett Cheng presented its latest collection inside St Mark’s Church in the East Village and a few models stole the show by walking down the runway with their pets tagging along, matching outfits and all.

One model in particular wore a knitted dress with holes, while her dog walked alongside her sporting the exact same look made mini. Another model wearing a similar knitted piece held her dog as she took to the runway—the dog wearing the same outfit in an opposite colorway. Even the velour floral midi dress came down the runway worn by a dog, who matched its owner.

This season’s collection was titled Happy and Healthy, and the invite guests received prior to the show had an illustration of a dog on it, too.

The designe duo — Esther Gauntlett and Jenny Cheng — are well known for casting friends as models and this season was no exception. The idea to include dog clothing, however, was sparked by Cheng’s sister after she asked her if she could create clothes for her Italian greyhound. According to the brand, this isn’t just a one time thing either. The two are hoping the pet-friendly collection becomes a full diffusion line.
