Hong Kong Fashion Club's Promise to Fashion Lovers

Hong Kong Fashion Club marks its debut with an inaugural "Hong Kong Fashion Fest," which kicked off mid-November and will run through December 4 in the Chinese metropolis.

Hong Kong is bringing fashion to a whole new level with its newest event, Hong Kong Fashion Fest. The event brings together six key partners to bring the event to life: the Hong Kong Design Institute, the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association, the Apparel Training and Development Authority, PMQ, the Hong Kong Fashion Council, and the Hong Kong Design Centre. It's organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and funded by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Bureau.

Together, these organizations unite global leaders in fashion, design, and art to create unique exhibitions and experiences, transforming the city into a hub of creativity and inspiration. Keep reading to learn details about programming, which runs through December.

Hong Kong Fashion Fest Program Highlights

From November 20 to 27, the DX Design Center in Sham Shui Po will kick off the event to spotlight workwear, celebrating its practicality and aesthetic allure. Hong Kong Fashion Week will launch with exhibitions, workshops, and interactive sessions, showcasing the rich history and adaptability of workwear while exploring innovative ways to incorporate these elements into modern fashion design.

On November 25, The Henderson at Central will host “Virtuosa: The Art of Haute Couture,” followed by a haute couture runway show from November 27 to December 12, showcasing four internationally acclaimed designers: Charles de Vilmorin, Mohamed Benchellal, Chen Caini, and Guo Zifeng. Additionally, on November 26, the Hong Kong Palace Museum will host the Fashion Summit (Hong Kong) 2024, with the theme “Sustainable Fashion Business,” exploring new strategies to promote sustainable fashion. Among the main events are two parades on November 28: One is dedicated to young designers from Hong Kong and a second celebrating Hong Kong brands. 

An exclusive pop-up store will also open at Airside Gate Art Center in Kai Tak for a month, offering a platform for designers to create sustainable businesses. This initiative highlights the city’s commitment to fostering eco-conscious creativity in the fashion industry.

From November 28 to December 29, K11 MUSEA will host the exhibition "MOTIFX," where young designers and artists will present over a hundred works inspired by traditional Chinese motifs. Symposia with experts such as Professor Wu Haiyan will explore the integration of tradition and innovation, allowing the public to rediscover the timeless charm of Chinese culture.

    Further on the lineup is Shanghai Tang, which will commemorate its 30th anniversary with the exhibition Past, Present, and Future of Shanghai Tang, hosted at PMQ from November 27 to December 15. Visitors can explore a collection of historical pieces alongside new designs. Chinese photographer Chen Man will also present a symposium discussing her creative collaborations with the brand, from its 2012 campaign to its Fall/Winter 2024 collection.

    Fashion Asia Hong Kong 2024 will take place on November 29 at the St. Regis Hotel, celebrating Asian design and craftsmanship. The highlight of the event is a forum that will feature notable speakers such as Galeries Lafayette China CEO Nicolas Morineaux, CFDA Vice President Prabal Gurung, Executive Vice President of the Shanghai Fashion Design Association Lu Xiaolei, Selfridges Creative Director Laura Weir, and designer Phillip Lim.

    With a rich mix of exhibitions, symposia, and events, Hong Kong is set to thrive as a global fashion hub this season.
