Creative Director Kris Van Assche Exits Berluti
The Belgian designer Kris Van Assche has announced with a post on Instagram that he is leaving his role as creative director of Berluti.
After the presentation of Berluti's Fall/Winter 2021 "Living Apart Together" collection, creative director Kris Van Assche announced on Instagram he is leaving the Italian Maison. In the three years since his appointment, Van Assche, drawing on the historical archives of Berluti, was able to experiment wisely with art and fashion, starting with the success of the Berluti x Brian Rocherfort collaboration up to more recent work designing a contemporary Ken Doll. The designer joined Berluti after his departure from Dior in 2018.
"After 3 years at Berluti, I announce my departure from the brand as creative director. These 3 years at Berluti have been extremely intense," Van Assche said. "Reinventing and remodeling the brand's DNA, its history and tradition, craftsmanship and luxury in a contemporary and creative way was certainly a challenge, and all the limitations and restrictions surrounding covid have not helped. So I want to express infinite gratitude to my creative team for always working miracles no matter how. You know what you did, how you had to do it, and you can be proud of it. I'm definitely proud of you, of us. While Berluti will have a new approach to his collections and calendar, I feel kind to everything I have learned and look forward to what the future brings me. Although I will finish some projects in the coming weeks, I will not present a new collection for the brand. Last week's reveal of the 'Living Apart Together' collection will be the last."
