Following the tell-all from the designer through the recent &ldquo;The Cutting Room Floor&rdquo; episode, let's explore Law Roach's history with his longtime client and muse, Zendaya.

The relationship between an artist and their muse will always be cherished by fans of fashion and art, and such is true for Law Roach and Zendaya. The pair have been working together since 2011, with Roach recently revealing that the first look he styled for Zendaya was the star's iconic outfit from the Never Say Never red carpet.
Since then, the pair have proven themselves to be quite the duo, as Roach has dressed Z in immaculately styled and carefully chosen archival and couture pieces in the 10 years he's worked with the actress. Roach recently took to &ldquo;The Cutting Room Floor&rdquo; to discuss some of the highlights in his career, including his work with Zendaya, where he explains how he met the once-young and green actress and how he's worked with her to stylistically transform her into the fashion icon we know and love today.&nbsp;
The pair, who reportedly met through Zendaya's father and manager, Kazembe Coleman, have now built over a decade's worth of looks to look back on. Below, we detail their partnership, which started during Zendaya's reign as a Disney Channel star.&nbsp;

2011: The Start of A Partnership

2011 would go on to be the start of Zendaya and Roach's partnership. According to an interview Roach did with Entertainment Tonight, the stylist revealed that the initial ensemble he styled Zendaya in was for the premiere of Never Say Never. The 2011 look was definitely indicative of the times, as Zendaya was seen wearing a metallic blazer and a patent leather grayish blue skirt with black tights underneath.

2014-2015: Roach's Fight To Secure Looks For Zendaya and Zendaya's First Met Gala&nbsp;

In June 2014, Zendaya attended the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in an electric blue and black number by Emanuel Ungaro. Roach told Fashionista in 2017 that he had to fight with a showroom representative to loan Roach the dress.&nbsp;
"I remember going to Alta Moda, the showroom that represents Emanuel Ungaro here, and seeing this dress. When I saw it, I knew, 'This is the dress.' Brooke Pace [who worked in the showroom] was really nice and was like, 'No, she's not ready; she's a little green," said Roach.
However, Roach insisted that they let the budding actress wear the dress. "'She's going to think I'm crazy,' but I kept saying, 'She's five ten; she's gorgeous; she carries herself like a seasoned diva on the red carpet. You have to, you have to,'" Roach said in relation to his persistence to secure the look for Zendaya.&nbsp;
The anecdote is indicative of Roach's loyalty and undying belief in Zendaya. Roach's investment in putting Zendaya in the best looks he can secure will pay off, as shortly after the Grammys, Zendaya stunned in an eye-catching yellow and blue Muiniko coat during New York Fashion Week in 2014. The look was so noteworthy to the public that it went viral as the look circulated through Instagram.&nbsp;
However, this was just the beginning of Zendaya's road to becoming a fashion icon, as the following year she would get invited to an event that is considered the mother of all fashion events, better known as the biggest night in fashion, the Met Gala. For the actress's Met Steps debut, she wore a high-low Fausto Puglisi gown that featured intricate sun-shaped gold embroidery and a headpiece with similar sun-shaped detailing on it as well. The lovely debut Met Gala was, of course, courtesy of Roach's styling efforts. According to Zendaya, the look was meticulously planned well before the event. The actress told <a href="https://people.com/style/zendaya-met-gala-looks-through-the-years-pictures/#:~:text=In%202015%2C%20Zendaya%20made%20her,two%20fittings%2C%22%20she%20shared." target="_blank" rel="noopener">People</a> that she was thinking of the look a month before the event and only had to have two fittings.&nbsp;
"I liked the fact that it was mature and fit the theme but didn't lose the fun, fresh youthfulness that I wanted it to have," Zendaya said of the look.
"Going to the Met Ball was a night to remember, overwhelming but in the best kind of way," the actress said to the outlet about going to the Met Gala for the first time.&nbsp;

2016-2017: Continued Partnership and Law's Rise to Recognition

As time went on, Zendaya's and Roach's partnership grew stronger. Roach continued styling the actress for magazine covers and events, including major Fashion Week events. In 2016, the actress was seen taking over Paris Fashion Week and sitting front row at Louis Vuitton's Fall/Winter 2016 show. The actress, while wearing Louis Vuitton, was seen chatting it up with Nicolas Ghesqui&egrave;re and the models backstage and was seated by some of Hollywood's biggest youngsters, including Selena Gomez and Jaden Smith.&nbsp;
Roach then decided to partner with Zendaya on a business venture in the form of a shoe brand called Daya by Zendaya. Although the brand is now defunct, the partnership solidifies that their relationship was something special that went beyond that of a normal stylist-client relationship. They were friends, confidants, and two people who respected each other's creative vision.
In 2016, Roach was prepared to put Zendaya in another stunning look for the Met Gala, and this time it was for the "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" theme. The actress wore a glittering gold one-shouldered dress by Michael Kors.&nbsp;
By 2017, Roach had risen and appeared on The Hollywood Reporter's Most Powerful Stylists list. In addition to Zendaya, Roach styled A-listers like C&eacute;line Dion and Ariana Grande.
In 2017, Zendaya was seen wearing a red and yellow Dolce &amp; Gabbana gown that featured beautiful prints of exotic birds for the Met Gala themed to "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Gar&ccedil;ons: Art of the In-Between," and that very same year, Zendaya graced her debut cover for Vogue, and while Roach didn't style his client for the shoot, he accompanies her in one of the images that appeared in the spread.&nbsp;
That same year, Zendaya did the press tour Spider-Man: Homecoming and was styled by her trusted partner Roach. At the film's premiere, she donned a hot pink&nbsp; Ralph &amp; Russo gown with an alluring slit at the side making the leggy look a memorable fashion moment. The actress also did the press tour for The Greatest Showman that year and was seen wearing a stylish strapless black-and-red dress from Viktor &amp; Rolf.&nbsp;

2018-2019: The Cinderella-Inspired Met Gala Look and Entering Zendaya's Euphoria Era

In 2018, Zendaya and Roach were seen going to numerous fashion shows and events together. In case you forgot, while the two were sitting in the front row at Michael Kors, a memorable moment was documented as Zendaya was looking uber serious next to giggling Blake Lively and Emily Blunt.&nbsp;
On the first Monday of May in 2018, Zendaya wore a remarkable chainmail look inspired by the patron saint Joan of Arc, which proved appropriate for the theme that year, which was "Heavenly Bodies." The unique gown was made by none other than Versace.&nbsp;
In March 2019, the two collaborated on a '70s-inspired collection for Tommy Hilfiger and showed the project with two shows, one in New York and the other in Paris.
&ldquo;Zendaya brought inspiration boards from the &rsquo;70s,&rdquo; including pictures from her family album, and because that&rsquo;s when I started my business, I love that style. So we went to work," said Hilfiger to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/style/zendayas-stylist-reveals-secrets-behind-stars-paris-fashion-show-1193980/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hollywood Reporter.</a>
"Tommy gave us the keys,&rdquo; Roach said, as per the same piece in THR. &rdquo;&lsquo;Whatever you want to do, just do it,&rsquo; from conception to hair and makeup and casting to the collection on the runway.&rdquo;&nbsp;
Of course, proceeding with the collaboration was the iconic 2019 Met Gala look. In 2019, for the theme "Camp: Notes on Fashion," Roach dressed Zendaya in a light-up Cinderalla-inspired gown by Tommy Hilfiger. But where would a princess be without her fairy godmother, or in Zendaya's case, a "fairy godbrother."&nbsp;
In a 2023 interview with Who What Wear,&nbsp;Roach said that the look signified Zendaya's departure from Disney and her identity as a Disney Channel star.&nbsp;
The story was that she was leaving Disney, and this was before Euphoria premiered," Roach said to What What Wear.&nbsp;Roach then explained that as Zendaya was gearing up to be known as Rue from Euphoria, she wanted to bid farewell to K.C. Cooper, her character from the Disney Channel show K.C. Undercover, which ended on February 2, 2018.
"That was to pay homage to her career as this Disney princess. We knew when Euphoria premiered that people would see a whole other side to Zendaya, the actress," Law continued.&nbsp;
In 2019, Zendaya presented her longtime friend with the Stylist of the Year award at the 2019 InStyle Awards. Before the actress handed out the award, the actress referred to Law as "a mentor and a brother."&nbsp;
"I'm so grateful to have the one and only Law Roach in my life," said Zendaya.&nbsp;

2020-2023: The Dune Tours and Roach's Retirement&nbsp;

 In September 2021, Roach styled Zendaya for the cover of British Vogue&nbsp;and the designer made sure to show off his client's final look on Instagram. The caption read, "Undoubtedly the biggest cover of my career!!! Thank you to the GREAT @edward_enninful for trusting me with this incredible honor! I love you so much. Please keep inspiring all of your children."&nbsp;
 Soon after the cover, Zendaya was set to begin her <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/zendaya-timothee-chalamet-dune-red-carpet-premiere" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press tour for Dune,</a> and with the help of Roach, she produced some of the actress's most iconic outfits to date. One of the most memorable outfits the press tour produced was a sequined cream gown from Rick Owens with a dramatically draped neckline.&nbsp;
 With years of serving fierce fashion looks thanks to Roach's guidance, Zendaya won the Fashion Icon award at the 2021 CFDA Awards. After accepting the award from the legendary supermodel Iman, she then delivered an extraordinarily eloquent speech when she thanked those who supported her, including Roach.&nbsp;
 "When I was 14, I saw my co-director of sorts, one who saw what I did and sometimes more than what I ever could have imagined on my own, that being Law Roach," she said during her speech.&nbsp;
 After the momentous achievement, Roach and Zendaya continued to do what they did best, which was serve more amazing fashion moments. From Zendaya's alluring looks from the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party to her chic outfits worn to Zenday's Valentino campaign that Roach styled her for, the friends were inseparable.&nbsp;
 However, like all famous friendships, there was a supposed bump that occurred in Paris in 2023. The rumored feud, dubbed "seat gate," started with a video of Zendaya directing Roach to another seat rather than letting him sit in the seat next to her. Shortly after the video surfaced, Roach announced his retirement.&nbsp;
 "My cup is empty&hellip;.. thank you to everyone who&rsquo;ve supported me and my career over the years. Every person that trusted me with their image, I&rsquo;m so grateful for you all. If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately it&rsquo;s not! The politics, the lies and false narratives finally got me! You win &hellip; I&rsquo;m out. ❤️❤️❤️" Roach wrote in a now-deleted post.&nbsp;
 There was speculation that "seatgate" may have prompted this departure, but Roach was quick to shut down the rumor.&nbsp;
 "It was her telling me, like, 'That's Darnell's seat,' which is her assistant," he explained. "I'm not gonna sit in Darnell's seat. So then where does he go? And so I was standing there&mdash;I was really just kind of confused," Roach said to <a href="https://www.thecut.com/article/law-roach-retirement-interview.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Cut</a> when explaining what occurred during the conversation between the two in the video.&nbsp;&nbsp;
 Additionally, Roach cleared the air and said that he'd continue to style Zendaya despite his retirement.&nbsp;
 <div>"So y&rsquo;all really think I&rsquo;m breaking up with Z... we are forever!" the stylist said in a post on X. "She&rsquo;s my little sister and it&rsquo;s real love, not the fake industry love."</div>

Zendaya Receives Fashion Icon Award | 2021 CFDA Fashion Awards

2024: Dune: Part 2, Challengers,&nbsp;and Roach Remembering The Beginning

In 2024, the pair started strong with numerous iconic looks for the<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/dune-movie-premiere-red-carpet-zendaya-timothee-chalamet-florence-pugh-austin-butler" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Dune: Part 2&nbsp;press tour</a>. To name a few, the metallic Mugler suit and the futuristic brown Bottega Veneta gown come to mind. Roach even made an appearance in a few red carpet- pictures during the tour.&nbsp;
Then came the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/zendayas-fashion-looks-for-the-challengers-press-tour" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Challengers press tour,</a> where Law dressed Zendaya in both custom and archival tennis core<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/shopping/tenniscore-trend-zendaya-challengers">&nbsp;looks</a>. The custom Loewe tennis dress and the green and white checked jacket dress were favorites among those who followed the press tour.
Law then appeared on the podcast &ldquo;The Cutting Room Floor&rdquo; to reminisce and dish out some information regarding his partnership with Zendaya. He details the little things&mdash;his choice to push Zendaya stylistically by making her wear the notoriously painful but famously beautiful So Kate heel from Christian Louboutin.&nbsp;
While recounting an early anecdote, Roach remembers Zendaya asking to take the shoe off, to which the stylist said, "'You will not take these shoes off.'&rdquo;
&ldquo;She kept them on, and the next day, she put them on again. And the next day, she put them on again. So it kind of became our thing. Now her feet are kind of, like, trained. She could wear them all day," said Roach during the podcast.&nbsp;
He also goes over details of certain brands rejecting requests to dress Zendaya because she is "too green."&nbsp;
"'Try again next year; she's too green; she's not on our calendar." Roach said as he remembered the slew of rejections. "I still have all the receipts; I still have everything."
Roach then explained how he stuck by his cardinal rule when it came to Zendaya, which was "If you say no, it'll be a no forever."&nbsp;
"She still hasn't worn any of those brands," said Roach.&nbsp;
