2022 Grammys Moves to Las Vegas for Rescheduled Date
This year's Grammy Awards will take place on April 3.
Earlier this month, the Recording Academy announced that, in an abundance of caution over the recent spike in COVID-19 cases (particularly the Omicron variant), the 2022 Grammy Awards would be postponed from its original date on January 31. Now, the Academy has revealed that not only is the show moving to April 3, but it will also now be held at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, as opposed to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
"The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority," read the earlier joint statement from the Academy and CBS.
"Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on Jan. 31 simply contains too many risks. We look forward to celebrating music's biggest night on a future date, which will be announced soon."
Last year's show was also postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, however, the event was eventually held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in March 2021.
The 2022 Grammys will be hosted once again by comedian and host of The Daily Show Trevor Noah. Watch the show unfold live on CBS on April 3 at 8 p.m. E.S.T. or stream via Paramount+.
