Lady Gaga Announces New Album with Tony Bennett
Seven years after their Grammy-winning record Cheek to Cheek, the musical pair will release their sophomore album Love for Sale on October 1.
Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett will reunite for their second duet album Love for Sale in celebration of Cole Porter's biggest hits. On Instagram, the A Star Is Born actress announced the upcoming project, which debuts on October 1, as well as the record's first single, "I Get A Kick Out of You," in an Instagram post. The announcement coincides with's Bennett's 95th birthday celebration.
"The day we released Cheek To Cheek in 2014, @itstonybennett called me and asked me if I wanted to record another album with him, this time celebrating the songs of Cole Porter," said Gaga in the caption of her post. "I'm always honored to sing with my friend Tony, so of course I accepted the invitation. Today, I am so excited to announce that our new album Love For Sale will be released October 1. You can pre-order the album and listen to our first single 'I Get A Kick Out Of You' everywhere now!"
The "Born This Way" artist first collaborated with Bennett in 2014 on their duet album Cheek to Cheek on which the pair covered a series of jazz classics by Porter, as well as Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, and more. The record earned the award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 2015 Grammys.
Since beginning their working relationship, the singers have maintained a close friendship. In February of this year, Bennett's family announced in AARP The Magazine that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2016 and has seen a significant decline in his health since 2018 when he was recording the upcoming album. Reporter John Colapinto recounted in the article that Gaga was brought to tears as she witnessed obvious signs of her friend's disease.
Despite the jazz crooner's illness, the duo performed together in July for MTV Unplugged and are scheduled to take the stage again for Bennett's final musical performances on August 3 and 5 at Radio City Music Hall.
