Mariah Amani Buckles went from science student to R&amp;B artist. Here&rsquo;s the history behind the scientific artistry.

Mariah The Scientist is originally from Atlanta, and she started her R&amp;B music career in 2018 after deciding to stop her studies of biology at St. John&rsquo;s University in Queens, New York. The 27-year-old signed a record deal with One Umbrella and RCA Records and later released her debut album. After switching from scientist to artist, Mariah became known for her emotional lyrics and sophisticated visuals, all tied together with moody R&amp;B melodies.&nbsp;

While she was still in college, Mariah publicly dated Lil Yachty, whom she met in high school. After their breakup, she connected with Young Thug, which led to musical collaborations and a serious relationship. The two love birds have released several songs together, like &ldquo;Walked In&rdquo; and &ldquo;Ride.&rdquo;&nbsp;
Even throughout Young Thug&rsquo;s time in jail, Mariah was supportive; she attended his hearings and frequently visited the rapper while he served his time. Despite drama and possible infidelity, the two have been together since 2021 and stay grounded in their love for creating music.&nbsp;

Mariah&rsquo;s song &ldquo;Burning Blue&rdquo; hit the Billboard top 100, alongside her single &ldquo;Is It A Crime.&rdquo; Other songs like &ldquo;Spread Thin&rdquo; and &ldquo;All For Me&rdquo; were recognized for their high streams and popular music videos. &ldquo;Always n Forever,&rdquo; featuring Lil Baby, still remains one of her most popular collaborations and songs.&nbsp;
Mariah&rsquo;s authentic artistry and unique sound drive the success of her extended plays and albums. She released her first extended play in 2018, called To Die For. Her debut album, MASTER, was released in 2019, which is a conceptual &ldquo;lab report&rdquo; about one of her past relationships.&nbsp;
RY RY World, Buckles Laboratories Presents: The Intermission, and To Be Eaten Alive, all followed her debut work. RY RY World chronicles Mariah&rsquo;s experience with love and what relationships mean to her.&nbsp;
Buckles Laboratories Presents: The Intermission is an extended play of singles that were previously unreleased. To Be Eaten Alive is a more alternative album that taps into Mariah&rsquo;s star sign, Scorpio, and her connection with scorpions. &nbsp;

Mariah&rsquo;s most recent album, Hearts Sold Separately, is meant for lovers, highlighting all the different layers and vulnerability that come with love. The visual concept of the album features a broken soldier on the cover, intended to convey that even the toughest hearts can be broken.&nbsp;
