Fans Think Taylor Swift's Song "Mr. Perfectly Fine" is About Joe Jonas

With the re-release of her Fearless album, Taylor Swift's new song has fans looking back at her relationship with the Jonas Brothers singer.

Old Taylor has officially returned. after releasing two albums Folklore and Evermore (and winning the coveted Album of the Year award at the 2021 Grammys Awards, making her the first woman to win this award three times) in 2020, Taylor Swift has finally released her long-awaited Fearless (Taylor's Version), first re-recorded album. The original Fearless album, the singer's second, was released in 2008 and earned her numerous awards. The record is not only a point of nostalgia for many of her fans but the beginning of her record deal with Big Machine Records.

However, even after Swift signed a deal in 2019 to own her own music beginning with her Lover album, the company still owned the master recordings and rights to her old songs. A legal war began between the two factions when Justin Bieber's manager Scott Braun bought her masters from Big Machine Records, despite years of her trying to do so herself. Swift opened up about her tenuous relationship with Braun, revealing that once she was able, she would re-record and release all of her old music. Thus, Fearless (Taylor's Version) was born, featuring all of her old songs, as well as some unreleased music "From the Vault," including a track that many believe is about her ex-boyfriend, Joe Jonas.

The album takes listeners back into the mind of a 19-year-old Swift. Country music, muddy pick-ups, high school, and heartbreak—2008 has never been so glamorous. Along with the songs on the original album, the "Love Story" singer rewarded her Swifties with six unreleased songs: "We Were Happy," "That's When," "You All Over Me," "Bye Bye Baby," "Don't You," and "Mr. Perfectly Fine." The first single to be unveiled was "You All Over Me," a melancholy song, recorded with friend and singer Marren Morris. However, just one day before the album's release, she gifted fans with "Mr. Perfectly Fine," and social media has been aflame ever since, noting all the reasons it's about the Jonas Brothers singer.

"Mr. Perfectly Fine" tells the story of a broken heart, many tears, unkept promises, and a deep betrayal; a song that echoes the pains of first love and the tragic end that seemed so difficult to overcome, yet so inevitable. Considering the widely known story behind the couple's breakup—the boy bander broke up with Swift in a 25-second phone call—fans immediately pointed out that the pair broke up only one month before the release of Fearless

However, it must be true that time heals even the deepest wounds because the pair are now on excellent terms. The "Sucker" singer's wife Sophie Turner is actually friends with Swift. And to prove there's no "Bad Blood" among them, the Game of Thrones actress posted the song on her Instagram story, commenting, "It's not NOT a bop," to which Swift replied, "forever bending the knee to the [queen] of the north."

13 years later, it seems that Swift and Jonas can happily laugh about their teenage romance drama. Let's hope that same feeling holds up when she re-releases Speak Now.
