TWICE's very own Jihyo has released her highly anticipated debut mini-album Zone to the world, marking her triumphant entry into the realm of solo artistry. Following in the footsteps of her fellow group member Nayeon, Jihyo becomes the second member to embark on a solo journey. Over the past two years, the 26-year-old leader of TWICE has been immersed in a whirlwind of activity, punctuated by the release of the group's remarkable EPs, Between 1 & 2 and Ready To Be, along with the highly acclaimed Ready To Be World Tour, selling out stadiums around the globe. These milestones have firmly positioned TWICE as one of the foremost K-pop girl groups of our time.

Amidst this bustling journey, Jihyo remarkably found time to channel her creativity into her seven-track solo EP, contributing significantly to both composition and lyrics. In an interview with Grammys, Jihyo shared, "I wanted to diversify as much as possible so that listeners can have fun while listening to my album. Each song has a different genre and feel to it." Her songwriting prowess is not a new endeavor, as she has previously penned several tracks in TWICE's discography, including the likes of "Get Loud," "First Time," and "Trouble," to name just a few.

The moniker 'God Jihyo' lovingly bestowed upon her by her devoted fanbase, known as ONCEs, is a testament to her unwavering work ethic, polished professionalism, awe-inspiring vocal range, and audacious spirit. Reflecting on the creation of her solo album amidst TWICE's demanding group commitments, Jihyo candidly expressed the challenges she faced in an interview with Variety.

She revealed, "Because of the tight schedule, we would have to practice those albums during the few days we did have time to ourselves, which is why I ended up being next to them. We had such a hectic schedule and felt huge burdens since these were our first non-Twice albums. I’d hear that the MiSaMo members would be crying due to stress, so we’d cheer each other on while practicing." MiSaMo, a sub-unit of TWICE, incidentally, celebrated their successful debut with the track "So Not Touch" recently too.

Driven by an unyielding resolve and hard work, Jihyo's moment has now arrived. Her musical prowess takes center stage with the title track of her maiden solo title track, "Killin' Me Good." This up-tempo R&B track perfectly showcases the potency of Jihyo's vocals. The music video accompanying "Killin' Me Good" artfully chronicles the ups and downs of a relationship, from its enchanting inception to a poignant farewell. Amidst the narrative vignettes, glimpses of sleek choreography interlace, adding to the visual delight. The album also boasts noteworthy gems like "Talkin’ About It," featuring 24kGoldn, and the captivating duet "Don’t Wanna Go Back," performed alongside Heize.

When queried by Variety about her potential desire for an earlier solo debut, Jihyo's response was marked by simplicity and conviction. She said, "I never thought of it like that. I actually think now is the perfect time. I’ve gotten to a point where I really understand the industry and my style as an artist." Expanding further, she shared, "I found that people seem to really like my healthy and bright image. So, I made sure to bring that style into the title track, "Killin' Me Good." I wanted to show what I do best there, and show other emotions and sides of me with my vocals on the B-sides."
