Some of your favorite on-screen fashions are sitting at the back of a celebrity's closet.

A good costume can make or break your favorite on-screen character. Wardrobes in film/TV add to a character's personality and the story they're conveying. From Sarah Jessica Parker playing Carrie Bradshaw to Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, here are eight actors who swiped their costumes from a set and kept it as memorabilia.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon was a fashion pioneer in late '90s and early 2000s films. Her most iconic role as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde had some of the best on-screen fashions. For the movie's sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, Witherspoon actually kept her entire wardrobe which included 77 pairs of Jimmy Choo shoes. The Cruel Intentions star had this negotiated into her contract for the film.

Anya Taylor-Joy

The Queen's Gambit series kept everyone on edge from start to finish. You didn't need to know much about chess for this show to have you glued to the screen. A big takeaway from viewers was the '60s fashion worn by Anya Taylor-Joy's character Beth Harmon. Many of the actress's period costumes were handmade for her and she got to keep them when filming wrapped.

Gabrielle Union

Bring It On is a pivotal film in pop culture. Gabrielle Union played the film's antagonist head cheerleader of a competing squad. Union kept her Clovers cheerleading uniform and even wore it as a Halloween costume in 2019.

Dakota Johnson

Dakota Johnson Jamie Dornan in 50 Shades of Grey.

At the beginning of Dakota Johnson's career, she played a shy writer named Anastasia Steele in the notable film trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey. These films were anything but conventional. While Johnson didn't keep any full ensembles from the series, she did keep some of the underwear her character wore.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker has one of the most prominent closets in television history. Sex and the City birthed some of the best on-screen fashion moments with Parker at the forefront. It's only right that she kept all of it. In her Vogue cover story last year, SJP admitted she kept all of her looks from the six-season series and its two films. The actress revealed that she keeps them in storage organized by season, episode, and scene.

Jennifer Lawrence

Robert Pattinson
