Every Time Meghan Markle Has Twinned With Princess Diana
Over the years, Meghan Markle has taken a page out of Kate Middleton's book and adapted the charm and elegance of some of Princess Di's most iconic outfits to her own wardrobe.
Just as Kate Middleton has gained notoriety for her many Princess Di twinning moments, so too has Meghan Markle. Over the years, the Duchess of Sussex has donned several dresses, hats, jackets, and pieces of jewelry as seen on the beloved royal fashion icon.
Most recently, Markle and her husband jetted off to Colombia, where they attended a series of public events and philanthropic engagements. While visiting a school in Bogota, royal fans noticed Markle's glimmering butterfly earrings and quickly identified them to be the same pair famously worn by Princess Diana. While Markle has numerous pieces of Princess Diana's jewelry, gifted to her by her husband, she has worn this particular pair of butterfly earrings on multiple occasions.

On her third day in Colombia, Meghan Markle sported yet another jewelry piece formerly belonging to her mother-in-law. Although Markle has collected several Cartier watches over the years—including the famous monogrammed Cartier Tank Française she bought herself after discovering Suits was renewed for Season 3—among the most valuable is the Cartier Tank Française that formerly belonged to Princess Diana, and was another gift from Prince Harry.
In this look, Markle also channeled the easy elegance of Princess Diana through her outfit itself, which consisted of an effortlessly chic white dress and an equally laid-back low ponytail.
While on a public visit to Nigeria earlier in 2024, Meghan Markle was spotted wearing a dainty gold cross necklace that once belonged to her late mother-in-law. Princess Diana was never photographed wearing the cross necklace, but it was apparently part of the jewelry collection bestowed to Prince Harry, who subsequently gifted it to his wife.
“Diana remains a prominent force in Harry’s life and as a result, Meghan’s. So much of his work is inspired by his mum, and it’s evident how much she still means to him," a source close to the couple told Page Six. "A gift to his wife that once belonged to his mother is incredibly meaningful and that isn’t lost on his wife.”
Markle famously channeled Princess Di at a 2019 Commonwealth Day celebration, where she wore an elegant, emerald-green Erdem coat. Just 30 years earlier, Princess Diana wore a strikingly similar design with the same style of intricate black detailing.
While Royal Ascot is a notoriously star-studded affair, Meghan Markle upped the ante when she brought the spirit of Princess Di to the event in 2018. The Duchess of Sussex wore a white Givenchy gown, complete with a black-and-white hat, in an homage to her late mother-in-law who once wore a similar look back in 1985.
White dresses are always in style, as evidenced by these royal women. Meghan Markle has always been one for monochromatic dressing, and in 2018, the Duchess of Sussex channeled her late mother-in-law with a sleek Karen Gee dress, echoing the famous white Versace dress worn by Princess Di in 1995.
