Ellie Goulding's Wedding Dress Took 640 Hours to Make

This past weekend was a celebratory one for Ellie Goulding, as the British musician married art dealer Caspar Jopling in a grand ceremony at York Minster Cathedral in North Yorkshire. As high-society weddings in the UK often do, the event attracted a crowd of celebrities and royals including Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Sienna Miller, and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. The famous bride showed off a whopping four looks throughout the festivities, including an intricately tailored dress by Chloé during the ceremony. Natacha Ramsay-Levi, the fashion house's creative director, told People she worked closely with Goulding on the design of her dream gown.

"We worked on a collage of Victorian-era references she wanted to introduce into the design in dialogue with historic York Minster," she said. "Her creative point of view has made the process fluid and inspiring, and I feel that the end result really reflects her personal sense of style."

The result was a hand-embroidered dress with white York roses and glass beading details. The custom creation took over 640 hours to complete, culminating in a look truly fit for musical royalty.

“I was very excited to collaborate with Natacha and Chloé on my wedding dress," Goulding said. "I've loved the brand and its amazing team for years. Natacha worked by my side to create something timeless and classic, but all in the spirit of Chloé. Natacha is a very talented designer and I've admired her work from day one."

Goulding's veil also featured special custom details, including the couple's embroidered initials. In keeping with the Chloé theme, the bridesmaids wore light blue dresses designed by Ramsay-Levi.

"I never felt more special than when I first wore the dress during my fitting in Paris," Goulding added. "It was absolutely inspiring to see the craftsmanship and the attention to detail."
