Wake up to the waves lapping right underneath you, and the murmurs of local fishermen taking their boats out for the day.
The Cottages' renovation draws heavily on Nantucket's rich maritime history and Quaker heritage. The interiors feature nautical touches like caged lighting, woven fixtures, and brass barometer instruments. Each of the 29 cottages is uniquely designed, takes inspiration from the names of famous whaling ships from the 1700s, and features a mural depicting a "First Nantucket Settlers" scene, celebrating the island's storied past. On South Water Street, The Beet has transformed into Misogi Noodle Bar, presenting a sophisticated reimagining with interiors inspired by Japanese izakayas and a menu of pan-Asian delights. Additionally, the highly anticipated 11:11 Market &amp; Bistro by Chef Sean Durnin, formerly known for his popular Sushi Sean 11:11 food truck, introduces a refined selection of poke bowls, ramen, sushi, and shareable plates such as steamed dumplings and house rolls.

Lemon Press has a plethora of coffees, juices, and organic offerings for those of all food persuasions. And it&rsquo;s adorable, to boot. Black-Eyed Susan&rsquo;s is known for a hearty breakfast and if you&rsquo;re after a long, languid brunch, the Brant Point Grill at the White Elephant offers harborside dining and a lobster eggs benedict that is not to be missed.

<h4>For Cocktails</h4>

Cozy up at Ethos, a subterranean gem of a wine bar, that opened in Nantucket last year. With exposed beams and a friendly face behind the bar, it&rsquo;s hard not to let time fly by while snacking on oysters, local littlenecks, and grilled cheese.

For those wanting to catch an exquisite sunset, Topper&rsquo;s at The Wauwinet is a must-visit. One can dine alfresco on North American lobster or halibut as the sunsets over the sound, but if you&rsquo;re pressed for time or did not make a reservation, grab a spritz at the bar and claim an Adirondack chair for the view.

For a taste of sophisticated New England cuisine, look no further than The Nautilus, where creative small plates and a vibrant atmosphere set the stage for a memorable meal. At CRU, diners are treated to stunning waterfront views and impeccable seafood, with their oysters and lobster rolls being particularly noteworthy.

For a more casual yet equally delicious option, head to Millie's, known for its laid-back vibe and mouthwatering tacos and seafood platters. The Brotherhood of Thieves is a local favorite known for its cozy ambiance and classic American fare. Dune stands out for its elegant fusion of local ingredients and global flavors, making every dish a delightful surprise. Finally, for a romantic dinner, Galley Beach offers fine dining right on the sand, where you can savor exquisite dishes while watching the sunset over the ocean.

Nantucket: Tips for Visiting Nantucket for the First Time

Think ahead. While last-minute trips are certainly doable, you&rsquo;ll pay a premium. Be sure to book your flights and ferries in advance. JetBlue offers daily service to and from Laguardia making it easy for New Yorkers to access the island. Cape Air flies daily from Boston, and you can take advantage of ferries from Hyannis, Harwich Port, and New Bedford. This year, there are also direct flights from Charlotte, Washington D.C., and Chicago.
The best restaurants on the island will book out quickly in the high season also, so be sure to make reservations in advance.
Pack for all occasions and all weather conditions. Okay, you won&rsquo;t need a gown, but Nantucket is chic&mdash;while laid-back layers are great for a stop at Cisco Brewery, you&rsquo;ll want something nicer for dinner or sunset cocktails at Topper&rsquo;s. Also, it gets cold. In early July, temperatures were only in the low &lsquo;70s midday and dipped further at dusk. Bring a blazer or light jacket for the evening, and it never hurts to pack a raincoat.

Get around. Navigating the island will be easier than ever this summer thanks to the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority's new "fare-free" pilot program for the "Wave" buses, running until September. This initiative aims to encourage more visitors to use the Wave bus service to discover Nantucket's stunning beaches and picturesque downtown, all without the inconvenience of driving and finding parking.
