5 TikTok Beauty Trends Worth the Hype

These five beauty trends will have you questioning your old makeup routine.

It's no secret that beauty trends come and go with the seasons. For example, think back to the '90s when supermodels like Tyra Banks and Cindy Crawford were sporting super thin, rounded eyebrows. But fast forward to 2015, and eyebrows were on the complete opposite end of the spectrum—they were thick, bushy, and boxy. Today, people are opting for fluffy, laminated brows.  What's next?

Trying to stay up with the trends can sometimes be overwhelming. Luckily, in this TikTok era, not only are beauty vloggers and content creators finding the newest way to apply their blush or the newest way to get red carpet skin, but they're trying it, too. That way, you don't have to go through the hassle of trying a complicated trend, only to find out it doesn't work and have wasted three hours of your day in the process.

Take a look down below at five TikTok beauty trends that are worth the hype.

The Dot Method

Instead of layering makeup products in the traditional order—foundation first, then placing contour on top, followed by blush, etc.—try applying all of your products at the same time. But in an atypical shape. Instead of drawing a line of product on your skin, place the product on your skin in the shape of dots. By the time you've finished applying your contour, blush, concealer, and foundation, your whole face should look like an organized polka-dot pattern. From there, blend each section, gradually moving into the others nearby. The result? A seamless blend that feels more lightweight than a traditional multi-layered beat.

The Neopolitan Ice Cream Method

The main difference between the line method and the dot method? You guessed it. You use lines instead of dots. For a fuller coverage look, add a few extra drops of foundation on top of the colorful ice cream lines before buffing and blending. If you're feeling a lighter look, simply focus on just the concealer, contour, and blush.

The Lip Lift

After a makeup hack from Makeup by Mario, Kim Kardashian's makeup artist, went viral, people took to TikTok to try the simple trick that he uses to give clients a non-surgical lip lift. Instead of overlining both of your lips entirely, only overline the center of your bottom lip and the center of your top lip at the cupid's bow. For the rest of your lip, extend the pencil inward toward the corners of your mouth.

For Red-Carpet Skin

The key to the flawless red carpet look that all celebrities seem to have? According to Savannah Rae Collins' TikTok video with over 480k likes, there are three steps. First, prime your face with a hydrating primer and follow that up with a glowing product, like Charlotte Tilbury's Hollywood Flawless Filter. What's next? Before blending in your glowy base, layer a skin tint on top. Then blend with a damp beauty blender, and boom, you'll be ready for the paparazzi.

For a Flawless Base

Most of us were taught to use powder as one of the final steps in our makeup routine. But this viral makeup trend wants you to use it at the beginning. After moisturizing and before priming your face, tap some translucent powder into the skin. Follow this up with a few spritzes of your favorite setting spray. Now, add your primer and go about your routine as normal, starting with foundation. While it may seem backward, TikTokers swear the hack works.

Soap Brows

While this trick has been around for a while, it's simple, easy, and oh-so-effective. Want that laminated brow look but don't want to pay loads of money and deal with upkeep? Soap brows are the solution. All you need is a clear bar of soap and a spoolie. Begin by wetting an area on the soap bar oh so lightly, and then rubbing the spoolie into the bar. To get that fluffy brow look, just swipe the coated spoolie in your brows and brush upward.
