Chanel hosted a celebration of dance, live theater, and movement with the opening of the BAAND Together Dance Festival at Lincoln Center. &nbsp;

On Tuesday, July 30, a hot but thankfully not too hot evening in New York City, guests&mdash;many decked out in classic <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/chanel-fall-winter-2024-haute-couture-runway-show-review-images">Chanel</a> <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/need-for-tweed">tweeds</a>, chain <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/the-most-strap-tivating-women-s-belts">belts</a>, and pearl <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/shell-necklaces-jewelry-summer">necklaces</a> (Cs everywhere)&mdash;descended upon Tatiana in Lincoln Center for cocktails to celebrate the launch of <a href="https://lincolncenter.org/series/summer-for-the-city/s/BAAND%20Together%20Dance%20Festival">BAAND Together Dance Festival</a>. Now in its fourth year, the festival is a celebration of dance, art, music, and most of all, live performance. Audiences were treated to five performances from different New York dance companies, all varying in style and aesthetic. The festival is made possible by Chanel, a supporter of the festival since its debut in 2021. BAAND Together Dance Festival&nbsp;runs July 30-August 3.&nbsp;

Tatiana, the Afro-Caribbean restaurant in Lincoln Center from Kwame Onwuachi of Top Chef fame, was repurposed for a <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/summer-cocktail-attire">cocktail</a> event: no dining tables were in sight, but gray couches and small cocktail tables filled the room. White and purple <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/travel-living/wedding-bouquet-flower-ideas">floral arrangements</a> and tea candles served as decor, adding an ambiance that&rsquo;s characteristically Chanel. Guests had plenty of drink options with white, red, rose, and the restaurant&rsquo;s signature spicy margarita. Small bites&mdash;delicious pigs in a blanket, ice cream donuts, and miniature versions of Tatiana&rsquo;s famous Bodega Special (cosmic brownies)&mdash;were also passed around. VIP guests in the crowd included Havana Rose Liu, Anna Baryshnikov, Casimere Jollette, Misty Copeland, and Tommy Dorfman.

Just before showtime, guests were escorted across the Lincoln Center courtyard to the theater, where the performance began promptly. The dance companies&mdash;Ballet Hisp&aacute;nico, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, and Dance Theatre of Harlem, specifically&mdash;showcased their unique skills and interpretations of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/how-to-style-balletcore-trend-ballet-flats">ballet</a>: playful, cheeky, edgy, classic, and modern. 
Chanel&rsquo;s partnership with BAAND Together reflects the house&rsquo;s long-standing connection to the world of dance, which has continued for over a century. The ties between fashion and dance stimulated Mademoiselle Chanel, an untiring supporter of the Parisian company Ballet Russes in the 1920s. The storytelling weaved into ballet greatly shaped Chanel's creative approach to design. Ballet Russes recruited her as one of its artists where she developed costumes influenced by those of her Maison, such as black bathing suits and jersey cardigans, imbuing her timeless elegance to the company. Long after Chanel&rsquo;s tenure at the helm of her brand, while working as the artistic director of the fashion house, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/karl-lagerfeld-archival-lofficiel-interview-photographs">Karl Lagerfeld</a> continued to preserve its special relationship with dance. Some of his initiatives to demonstrate his reverence for the art of dance included creating a tutu for the English National Ballet&rsquo;s centenary celebration in 2009 and designing the costumes&mdash;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/shopping/tulle-fashion-trend-shopping-maison-margiela-simone-rocha-summer-2022">tulle</a> skirts and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/how-to-style-corsets-y2k-jean-paul-gaultier-vivienne-westwood">corset</a> bodices alike&mdash;for the Paris Opera Ballet&rsquo;s 2016 performance of Brahms-Sch&ouml;nberg Quartet. With Chanel&rsquo;s collaboration with the BAAND Together festival, it continues to assert the natural conflation of dance and haute couture and simultaneously champions the mutual artistic excellence and effortless chicness that links Chanel and the practice of dance.&nbsp;
