Taylor Swift Wore a Look Inspired by Princess Diana's Revenge Dress
During her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Taylor Swift bet on a dress with a silhouette referencing one of Princess Diana's most famous looks.
The release of the Taylor Swift's album Red (Taylor's Version) is causing quite a stir. With new tracks, a short film, and a new perspective of her past work, the singer is once again at the center of the spotlight. During the project's promotion, however, one of the artist's looks stood out for its silhouette inspired by Princess Diana's revenge dress.
During her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Swift bet on a dress by David Koma that bears an incredible resemblance to the look worn by the People's Princess in 1994. With a v-neckline and long sleeves, the look caught the public's attention for its sophistication and refinement of the piece, but also for all the message it brings.
Princess Diana's version became a standout at the time, appearing sexy and powerful at a party, the same day as an interview in which Prince Charles publicly admitted his infidelity. The look still draws public attention today and the nickname “revenge dress” can bring a great connection to the story of Swift's album release.
At the moment, there are two big theories about the play that are standing out among the public. The first is that this is a message to Scooter Braun, the manager who famously bought the rights to Swift's songs which resulted in her re-recording of six of her albums.
The second theory is that the dress is a response to Jake Gyllenhaal, the actor Swift dated and who inspired several songs on the album, including "All Too Well."
