Tommy Hilfiger Launches Gender Neutral Collection With Indya Moore
Non-binary actor, activist, and L'OFFICIEL star Indya Moore teams up with the brand for a capsule collection that defies gender boundaries.
Truly timeless fashion shouldn't be limited by size or gender, and the latest collection from Tommy Hilfiger exemplifies the versatile nature of classic American style. For the brand's Pre-Fall 2021 capsule collection, Tommy Hilfiger taps activist and actress Indya Moore to design clothing free from gender binaries.
“Great style knows no boundaries, and this has always driven my dream to create fashion for all,” said Tommy Hilfiger. "This collection embodies everything we stand for. From the design process to the campaign, the Tommy X Indya partnership is here to make people feel seen, accepted and included. This message means so much to everyone at Tommy Hilfiger. Working with Indya to share their story has been a unique and inspiring experience. We're so proud to share it with the world.”
Tommy Hilfiger has always stood out for its influence on American style, and is making efforts to redefine the industry as a whole. This collaboration with Moore furthers the brand's People's Place Program initiative, a platform that seeks to increase representation for BIPOC individuals in the fashion world and beyond. For its new campaign, Tommy recruited the talents of revolutionary activists to present the collection alongside Indya: deaf, transgender author and multimedia artist Chella Man; activist and model Gia Lovel; model and actor Cory Walker; and intersex advocate Pidgeon, who was honored as an LGBTQIA+ Champion of Change by the Obama White House.
The collection features classic pieces from the Tommy archive, reimagined with gender fluidity in mind. Available in a wide range of sizes, pieces include a polo shirt, Oxford button-down, bandeau top, loungewear, pin-stripe blazer, underwear, thick-soled boots, bucket hats, double-bridged sunglasses, and more. Hues of cream, muted blues, gray, and navy in the collection's color palette evoke a sense of vintage Americana. The pieces also contains personal touches from Moore: their initials, their hometown of Bronx, NY, and a lotus flower motif to symbolize growth and rebirth.
“This capsule goes beyond great style,” said Moore. “It breaks a cycle and sets a new standard across the industry. Too many people are made to feel that something is wrong with them just for being themselves. It means everything to me to know that with our capsule, no one is made to feel wrong or different or broken. Everyone works perfectly for this collection, no matter who they are.”
Along with releasing boundary-pushing clothing, the partnership between Moore and Tommy Hilfiger furthers their commitment to benefitting the broader community by donating to three charities: Rainbow Railroad, a nonprofit that helps persecuted LGBTQ+ people find safety across the globe; Reuniting of African Descendants, a project that aims to improve the socioeconomic wellbeing of African descendants; and Global Coralition, a charity that hopes to restore marine life in island communities.
