You may know Kerry Washington as the actress behind Olivia Pope on the ABC drama series Scandal, but that's just one credit on her widely impressive resumé. Since her early years at George Washington University, she's been heavily involved in activism for the rights of people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and women—however, in recent years, she has focused her advocacy on voting rights and encouraging others to get involved in politics.
As an actress, she's starred in hits like Little Fires Everywhere, Confirmation, and American Son, just to name a few, but in 2016, Washington launched her production company Simpson Street. Since then, she has also moved into directing television episodes. As she prepares for her next role in an upcoming action film, the multi-hyphenate star looks forward to summer, reminiscing on childhood memories, from swimming in her community pool in the Bronx to her family’s lake house in the Catskills.
